four star 40
i have just bought a four star 40 for my second plane.im using a tt .46 bb pro,and a 6exas radio. i am just wondering if i should put dual aileron servos in it, also how do u put 2 aliron servos in the arf. can u? or is it to much time to do it.

RE: four star 40
You could try to put dual servos in the arf but it would be a lot of work. You'd have to build a box shape in each wing to hold them and use a Y harness. I don't know if it would be worth it.

RE: four star 40
You can enlarge the aileron servo opening in the wing and install two servos side by side with each controlling a torque rod. I had an Easy Sport 60 set up this way.

RE: four star 40
For an ARF the easiest thing to do, as was previously suggested, is enlarge the servo bay in the wing centre section and put two servos side-by-side with each one driving it's own torque rod.
I don't know that it is worth it. I've had two Four Star 40s built from kits that I put dual aileron servos in. I now have the ARF with just one servo for the ailerons. Yes, you can get some "redundancy" in your ailerons if one servo dies on you and yes you can play with flaperons/spoilerons, aileron differential etc. The four star really doesn't need flaps or spoilers... The only time I've had an aileron servo die on me was when I didn't plug it in properly [:@] or when the gears stripped after I smacked the airplane into the ground real hard [:@]. Your decision... I wouldn't bother... but if you go ahead and do it, nobody is going to laugh and call you an idiot :D |
RE: four star 40
question a little off topic but, lets ay with my new 6exas radio(channel 23) and then i buy the square conector cabel to my 4 channel radio(channel 38) will it work.this would be to train a new piolet.

RE: four star 40
If the radios are both futaba it will work as long as you fly a four channel set up aircraft.

RE: four star 40
so would u install dual aliron servos in an arf 4 star 40?

stunner, here's what the dual servo set-up I have looks like:
|
RE: four star 40
can u explain to me how u did that.
|
RE: four star 40
stunner, this was a kit, but on an arf, like mentioned above, you will have to make a dual servo tray where there is now a single servo. I agree what was said earlier about not really needing dual servos on a 4 * 40. I've never used the spoiler or flap capability.

RE: four star 40
I tried to put side by side servos in my 4* ARF but found they ended up too wide to fit into the fuse correctly. Ended up going back to the single servo method.
