FIRST FLIGHT DISASTER
 

Well..spose I cant complain too much..I paid a total of 34 bucks for a B 29 bomber electric 2 channel plane from EBay...but yo..you get what you pay for right..

I took it to the park this weekend..pointed her into the wind...put the engines at full throttle and gave her a level toss....it went straight..straight..straight..to the left and crash...highest altitude of just 10 ft....

It didnt climb as it was supposed to...I used the stock NiMH bat that came with it...it just seemed under powered..can anyone tell me what I did wrong???

You bought a $34 B-29 bomber off Ebay! ;) A 2-channel plane such as this is not a "real" R/C plane, but more of a toy. It is also not an aircraft designed to learn how to fly on.

Sorry for the loss, but if you would like to get into the hobby, you are much better off getting a trainer, joining a club and the AMA and getting instruction from a certified instructor (more often than not, instruction is free)

Search for a club nearby and go to the field, and ask questions! Most of us modelers are very friendly people and willing to help newcomers as much as possible. ;)

This is great advice. Thank you. Can you suggest a low cost electric trainer? Maybe the Parkzone P51 Mustang??? It has no landing gear though..which looks like a problem.

If the plane has no landing gear it is probably meant to just land on its belly in grass(not pavement). On your origiinal flight, you were probably trying to give full up elevator with out allowing the plane to build up some speed first. This would cause a stall, turn and dive into the ground. Electric planes can be fun but most setups from the factory have the plane underpowered. There are some higher performance models available. From the videos I have seen they are not for new flyers as they are fast and very responsive and would problably do a high speed crash before you even knew what happened! Phone the nearest hobby store that sells RC airplanes and ask them where the nearest RC club is. Then go visit them. [8D]

Most people are going to suggest getting a .40 size glow trainer and joining a club, and I agree that is the best way to do it. The mustang is NOT a trainer, it is fast and aerobatic and meant for experienced fliers. However if you really want an inexpensive electric trainer to get your feet wet, look at the park zone Slo-v. It doesn't look like much but it will give you a start.

As you've already heard, the P-51 isn't a good choice for a trainer. What's your budget?
