Trainer suggestions
I used to fly about 10 years ago. I stopped and now want to get back into it. I'm looking for a 1.2ish 4 stroke trainer so that when I finish relearning how to fly I can move into an equivalent size Chipmunk or Extra 300 or something similar. I don't mind building from scratch, and I definitely do not want an ARF. Does anyone have any suggestions for a kit or plans? I was thinking about maybe going with a .90 4s size trainer if I could find one and just sticking to a CG Chipmunk or something along that size, though it's not quite as big as I might prefer.
Any advice? Thanks! |

That's the closest to the size you're lookin for that I know of. Calls for a .91 4-stroke, but I'm sure it would take a little more. |
RE: Trainer suggestions
Thanks for the link. That seems like it may just fit the bill. Looks to be good quality, and for a good price.
I'll be building up a sport while I'm relearning on the trainer so I gotta figure out exactly what models I want to use with what engine. I bet it'd be easy to find a real nice 4s 1.2 Ultimate Bipe. Gotta be able to reuse parts on the second plane as I'm not rich! :) ORIGINAL: elenasgrumpy http://www.btemodels.com/flyin_king.html That's the closest to the size you're lookin for that I know of. RE: Trainer suggestions
Your more than welcome Sir! If you read thru his whole site you'll see that he's putting out nothing but the best quality kits around. Read his article in there about the 4* vs Venture 60. He is the original designer of the 4* for Sig & is doing his own small operation now.
I'm sure you'll be impressed with the quality of the kits he's making. Have fun & welcome back!:D |
RE: Trainer suggestions
Again, thanks for your time!
If I were to get the Flyin' King I think I'd have to go out and find some GI Joe dolls to load up in it. :) That really looks like it might be the kit to get for me. I'll e-mail the guy and see if a 4s 1.2 will work ok with it if I keep the throttle down. ORIGINAL: elenasgrumpy Your more than welcome Sir!
