This is a great hobby

Today I got off work early and went out to the airfield. I have soloed before but this time I was all alone. No buddy box, no one walking me through my landings, no helpful advice, nothing. If I was going to bring this plane down in one piece it was going to be up to me. It was a great day, blue sky, light wind, and nippy, just the way I like it. Well I took her up (first takeoff was a bit sketchy) flew around a bit and got comfortable. Then came the landing, my weakness. Did my best to aim for the runway but ended up landing on the grass gently. Woohoo. Took her up another four times or so, landing was better everytime. I havent had this much fun since i dont know when. What a feeling of accomplishent. You guys who have been in rc for a long time must remember how great it felt the first time (mind out of the gutter). just wanted to share my enthusiasm. Thanks for listening.

sure glad that you had a good day and I agree with you, this is one heck of a hobby. I flew my first gas powered plane back in 1954 when I was 9 and I haven't looked back. Over the years I have had the honor of meeting some of the best people in the world and became good friends with many. Enjoy it and you will have many memories to fall back on if the time (God forbid) you are unable to continue, I sure have a lot!!!!

congrats

It just gets better, with a few setbacks once in a while. Remember it's about fun and relaxation don't loose that or you will loose your desire to enjoy the greatest hobby there is.

Thanks for the mammories

You never forget your first time. That's what keeps the flyers that have been at this a long time motivated. We constantly need to be challenged or we'll wind up making table candles, or basketweaving or something  Whatever you do in this hobby, make it fun, and work your brain ;)

Congrats!

Keep up the good work. I'm new myself and every time I move the sticks it just amazes me.

After many years of building/flying(crashing)I still get the shakes when testing a new bird for the first time, flying in front of a new audience or different club gets the old adrenalin pumping, the best part of this hobby/sport for me is the socialization with the nicest and friendliest people in any sport/hobby.

Good luck, most clubs go out of there way to meet new members, just let them know you are new to them and you are wanting to become a member, lots of money ,food, good looking mom or sister that can build also helps, might have to lie about the money as most of us donate our paychecks to the lhs.
