Installing Robart hinges
I watched the video on how to install Robart hinges and got the impression that you do both surfaces at the same time so that when you move the control surface up and down the hinges will self-align, is this right? I wasn't sure as another artical says to do the control surface first.
Thanks in advance, Pete |
RE: Installing Robart hinges
Hi Pete,
Dry fit first to make sure all aligns and works ok. Then glue one side only followed by the second when the glue is dry. Don't forget to soak the hinge joint in oil or warmed grease/vasoline to stop glue siezing the little bu**ers up:D. Trying to do both at once invites problems. Cheers, Colin |

Thanks Colin, that makes sense to me. I'll do it just like you said.

RE: Installing Robart hinges
I disagree.
When you install one side first, they could rotate, or one (or more) could be in deeper than that others (Or not as deep) - in any case, the alignment of the pins could be slightly out of whack. If you install both sides and then move the surface up and down, they will perfectly self-align |
RE: Installing Robart hinges
I have to agree with minnflyer on this, do both at the same time and you alleviate any possible problems that may arise.
