Eagle II trainer Plastic wing Tips?
Hello all,
I've just finished covering the wing of a Eagle II trainer. Ultra Cote went on like a charm.... Question is on the Eagle II they give you plastic wing tips. What is the best way to glue them on? I'm wondering if the glue will mess up the shine on the Ultra Cote. Which glue would work best and also, It looks like there will be a ridge from the plastic. Should I run a pin stripe of some sort around that to keep out glow fuel? Thanks in advance, Joe |

Those plastic wing tips can be left off if you choose. The plane will fly just fine with or with out the tips.
I would use CA to attach the tips if you go that route. using medium CA, you should be able to get the glue to stay where you want it so it won't mess up your finish. |

I've built several Eagles for friends, and I always leave the cheap, easily broken, hard-to-attach, plastic wingtips off. I get some 1/4" balsa and make a new wingtip similar to the original and glue it on then cover it.

I've put a few of those on too. I've used medium CA and it works well, just be careful to not use too much so it doesn't run all over the Ultra coat. Sand the inside edge of the wingtip to help the glue hold. Use a pin to punch some small holes in the covering along the edge of the final wing rib. This will help the glue get through to hold on to the wood. If you want, you can cut a strip of self-stick trim sheet to cover up the joint between the wing and the wingtip.
