Looking for a good re-entry trainer
 

My friend wants me to get back in to the hobby

I have owned and flown 2 Cox 2ch planes (Cub and 29 XB jet) and took a few lessons with a megatech airstrike

I have not flown in 5-6 years

I have lots of RC Car experience and Fundemental knowladge of Aviation (my dad works for Lockheed Martin:D)


The question is whats a good plane to get back in heres the parameters:

1.Electric RTF
2. under $150
3. good match for skill and potential for advancement
4. looks and performs
5. quality

Tough choice. You may not find too many people here with electric RTF experience. Consider posting this on the electrics board. I might go for the Super Star just because it's a bigger plane. The GW Cessna looks good, but it's awfully small and liable to be a handful in any kind of wind.

None of these planes are really salvagable for parts. My idea of a starter electric is something like the Goldberg Electra or GP Spectra. Either will run you quite a bit more than $150 (and they're not RTFs), but most of the parts are reusable if you move on to another plane.

Do you know where the water towers are off of the Wabash river?
If so, go over there, to the back where the RC field is. Ask around and you can get a used system for the price you are talking about. If you don't know where it is, go out 9th street until you get to the park before the road splits. Turn left into the park and drive past the park area, to the left and back.

I know some cloud jockeys my friend im refering to is one..... he checked for me but not too stuff for much for me

i also took lesson sthere with the megatech my firend had but i do not like that plane(niether did the instructor)

I have flown the superstar. Its not too bad for an inexpensive electric... Just be prepared to buy several motors for it. They dont last very long at all. They are real cheap maybe $5-6 at tower hobbies. The transmitter that comes with it is pretty much crap though.

Super star EP with ailerons. Very easy to fly 4 chan. adn now has a futaba 4yf. I "re-learned" on this plane solo at mt local park and I could not have asked for anymore from a trainer!!!
