New engine
 

okay, so I am new at this. I got a OS .25 LA engine from a friend who gave it to me.
I would like to now what kind of plane would fit that engine.
I need a reference so when I can fly better I can get a plane for it.

There are a large number of planes that would fit that engine. But since we don't know your skill level, what you like to fly, what you might like to fly, your tastes, or even your budget it's almost impossble to list all of the planes that would fit this bill. You might want to narrow down what your choices may be. You might also want to check out the online stores to find planes that would fit.

As you put this in the beginners section I would suggest a Sig LT 25....a nice starter plane that the engine will work with.

I really dont care what plane it is. as long as it is good.
The only thing I have heard is that a plane with an upper wing is easier to fly.

Tower categorizes their planes by size. If you go here: http://www.towerhobbies.com/listings/cat-cat-a.html you can see a list of all the plane categories they carry. This list is divided into kits, ARFs, etc. Look at the kit list and click on the links that include your engine size. Then do the same in the ARF category. For example, the Sig LT-25 that was mentioned earlier should be in the R/C Airplane Kits - Trainers .20-.50.

Once you are in one of these lists, you may have to look at the details for a plane to determine if it's appropriate for your engine. In general, it's good to choose something where your engine is near the top of the acceptable range. However, the Sig LT-25 for example lists .25-.32, and most any engine in that range would be ok since it's a trainer with a larg wing area.

Edit: I've found that Tower has a limted number of planes in the .25 range. If you're looking for a trainer, here's a possibility from World Models: http://www.airborne-models.com/html/...p?ProductID=37 .

If you want something that could possibly be a second, and definitely a good third plane for that engine, look at the World Models Aircombat planes (at the airborne site under "Warbird". I have one of these and while it's not the prettiest plane, and definitely not scale, it's so fun to fly I take it to the field more than any other plane. I've flown mine with an old OS .25 FSR, which should have about the same performance as your .25 LA. It did fine. I like this plane so much I have a second one stashed away just in case I crash it.

And one more from World Models, that would be a candidate as a third plane is their 1/8 scale Piper Cub. This was highly recommended by someone else here on RCU as being a great small Cub. However, even though it's got a high wing, it's not a good trainer.

There are a bunch more candidates out there, these are just a few of the ones I know.

The LT 25 is a high wing and a nice flying trainer. The 25 will work well for a trainer but will not be overpowered. I have flown this plane with a OS 20 FS which worked but very under powered. I have also flown it with a good 40 2 stroke and it is no longer a good trainer at that level.
Like all of the Sig trainers you would like this plane......I sure do.

Looks like a decent choice, right engine size range and traditional trike gear trainer configuration, etc.

When I'm researching planes, one of the places I go before deciding is the RCU User Reviews section (the link is in the bar that's below the RCU logo at the top left corner of the screen). This is a good source of comments from others. One of my personal "missions" is to get more people going there for research and to post reviews. Have you looked there to see what others have said about the plane? If not, try it.

Keep in mind it's a $65 ARF trainer. It's very rare to see glowing reviews at this level. ;) You'll almost always see comments about little issues such as hardware. As long as there are mostly positive and there's no pattern of comments like this plane is a piece of *^$@, fell apart on the first flight, it should be ok. If you want a higher rating, look at the Sig LT-25.
