Help installing battery and reciever in new trainer
I need help installing my battery and reciever into my trainer that I'm almost done building. I have them wrapped in foam, but I'm not sure how to secure them inside the plane? I thought of gluing them, but that would make removal a pain. Any ideas/pictures of what to do would be great!

A little velcro can help or add foam all around until its' fixed in place

Put some small eye hooks in and secure them with rubber bands. Pack the foam tight around them and stuff them in place, use popcycle sticks and glue the sticks in locations that lock the items in. Use styrofoam and pack it in around the item to hold it in place. Use velcro and put them where you need them to secure the item.
What ever way you do it remember to use the battery and rec. to get your final balance and be sure that the rec. is behind the battery. ENJOY !!! RED |
RE: Help installing battery and reciever in new trainer
Most of the times all you need is the receiver and battery wrapped tight enough in foam that shoving it into the fuselage is enough to hold it there, but sometimes you need help. Here is my LT-40 I just completed with which I had to screw a piece of scrap over and behind the receiver to help hold it down. Also had to put a scrap ply sheet in front of the front former to hold battery in place.
NEVER, EVER glue the receiver or battery to the fuselage - it will be very difficult to get it out again, if you are lucky enough to be ABLE to rip it out again, and if you are able to remove it, more than likely it will become too damaged to use again. |
RE: Help installing battery and reciever in new trainer
I have done something simular as tigerdude suggests. Ive used 2 scrap pieces of Bass wood and glued them on the bottom standoff/support of the plane about 1-2 in apart. Placed the reciever and or battery on the beams ive installed and used some velco wire oganizers around everything. Very secure and could be removed very easily.
