HELP with electrics.
Hello. I want to use an electric motor on the plane I'm building (Herr P-51, 42" wingspan). It is going to use 3 airtronics servos (rudder-elev-ailerons), and my radio is an Airtronics Vanguard, 4 channels, with the airtronics FM receiver (receiver is 6 chans. I guess). What kind of electric motor would be good for this plane, and how to combine this motor with the 4.8 V of the Airtronics set?
Thanks! |
RE: HELP with electrics.
Based on your other post I am assuming this is your first plane? If I am wrong please forgive me.
If I am right I would strongly caution you to get a trainer airplane and leave that P-51 sit until you build up the skill needed to fly it. As for your electrical conversion you would be better off asking that question here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_227/tt.htm |
RE: HELP with electrics.
UM,
The motor, ESC and batteries that would be needed to fly a small P-51 like that, assuming standard balsa construction, would cost over $300. Extra batteries would be additional as would a Lipo charger. YIKES....you sure you want an electric war bird? If this is your first plane, STOP!! Get some help, and don't try to fly it by yourself. |
RE: HELP with electrics.
RIN,
first we need a little more info like the weight of the plane ? also the 4.8 volt battery you have is just to power the reciever it wont work as flight battery for the motor. as far as cost goes it wont be anywhere near $300.00 unless your buying ALL top of the line most expensive stuff you can find ;) im flying my super sprotster EP with the stock brushed motor and gear box jut using different batteries and it flies nice at 3 1/4 lbs and the motor gearbox combo set-up thats fairly inexpensive and if the all up weight is 28 oz or less you could use the new 400 outrunner brushless motor that world models has for $25.00 ESC is $39.00. and the batery packs can be nimh or nicad. here is a link to the motor and esc = http://www.airborne-models.com/html/...asp?AGroupID=6 NOW WITH THAT SAID IF IT IS YOUR FIRST PLANE , PLEASE GET A TRAINER TYPE PLANE FIRST. hope ive helped you some. bassman edit was for wrong price of motor :) |
