WHO MAKES A BETTER FOUR STROKE BOTH PRICED VERY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. WONDERING WHAT YOU GUYS THINK

Well, there are several brands but seems to me Saito has cornered the market with both price and quality. OS is equal but Saito offers more.

i've got 6 satios i think they have a better power to weight ratio
i've flown other guys os 4 strokes they seem like they may have just a fraction bit more power but they are heaveier only had one of my satio a 300 twin need repair(just got it back) but that was after 5 yrs use maybe 20 - 25 gals thru it. and if i kept it lubed it proberly wouldn't needed repair then(i learned from my mistake).
for 2 strokes unless its for speed or racing os is great run them in all my copters. 3 or 4 in airplanes they're great.

A lot also depends on size, but generally, I look to OS first.

I only have 4-stroke experience with my O.S. 91 Surpass (not the Surpass II) and I must say I love this engine. I have it mounted on an Ultra Stick 60. Generally, I break in my engines in the plane. This one started for the first time on the secord flip by hand. I barely had to adjust the needle valve, it was so close. Set the plane on the runway and handed the sticks to my instructor for the planes maiden flight. He took off, trimmed it, performed gentle aerobatics, then landed without a hiccup from the O.S. This engine has performed flawlessly since day one. I'm sure the Saitos are terrific engines but because the O.S. has performed like it has I probably will stick with that brand. Good luck!

Both are very good brands. I think that Saito has a longer warrany now. I've had every large OS and Saito they make and it seems the OS ones start out of the box a little smoother, but when broken in both run fine. I believe for new products, innovation and technology Saito is ahead, though.

I really Like O.S engines and prefer them. But for every guy that says O.S is better there is another guy to say Saito is better. I have found that with just about everything in this hobby your best bet is to talk to the guys at your field or club and fly what they fly. If you have 10 Saito experts and no O.S experts it might be hard to find help with a brand specific issue, tuning, breaking in etc. I try to use what the guys at the field use because there experience cannot be matched.

Lookinup leaves great advise. Talk to the guys you will be flying with. I have both. Both companies make great engines and you will be happy with either as a first 4 stroke. What will be most important is how you setup/adjust and break in a 4 stroke. Rely on an experienced club member for this. Just remember that you do not tweek in a 4 stroke into a lean condition like a 2 stroke and they put out a bit of smoke. You may damage the motor with a lean condition and it is hard to adjust a 4 stroke by ear the first time.

If you decide to go with os check out the magnum 4 strokes.
I own 2 magnum 4strokes & 2 magnum 2strokes excellent engines. Also the magnum 4 strokes are approx half the price of os. Magnum to me appears to be a clone of os. I also own 2 satio 4 strokes after proper break in run great.

I'll second the good opinion on the Magnums. I think they are the best buy for the money right now, bar none. I have OS's, Enyas and Sato and find the Magnum 91 compares favorably to all of them at about half the price.

I have an OS 1.20 four stroke. I love this motor. I've never owned a Saito so I can't offer my opinion there, but I can tell you that if you bought the O.S., you wouldn't be disappointed. Mine has lots of power, sounds good, and has never quit on me from anything other than running out of fuel! Matt
