What didn't you like about the LT40? That would give us an idea on what to recommend.
I really like my Kadet Senior, alot. But you may be wanting to move past the trainer stage?
If so look at some of the recent second plane threads.

Nose wheels suck! Lol. A little further down on this forum you'll see my conversion on did on my pt40 to a tail dragger. I got fed up with it this weekend. Nose wheel slipped once, and sent me into shrub. Then slipped again on next take off, but managed to gt it airborn before the shrubs this time. Monday it did the same thing, and caused a belly flop on take off cause I was trying to horse it off the runway before the weeds. It was behaving ok till I got new engine and had to move the steering arm to make it clear the needle valve on the new engine, but just way to much trouble. Also could never get it setup right to track straight, and adjusting it was a pain as I had to remove the engine to get at the set screw. I'm done with nose gears, unless i get a scale that needs it, then I'll put a lot of time into thinking how to set it up to be as trouble free as I can manage.

RE: crash replacement

I had the same trouble with the nose gear, I fixed that problem by doing 2 things.
I replaced a weak clevis on the servo horn with a heavy duty one and I ground a flat spot on the gear wire (right were the set screw goes) Haven't had a problem since.
I don't know about the wing attachment, haven't had any problems with that.
I use 10 rubber bands, 4 on each side and the last 2 crossways to lock them all in.
That said I still recommend a Kadet Senior, nice flying airplane and very forgiving.
