AT-5 PROP SIZE ???

Hi all......

I'm in the final stages of building my Great Planes AT-6 40 size. I'm powering it with the OS 46 AX. Was thinking of using
an 1150, but not sure, it looks kinda small. What do you think ????

Thanks in advance for the help

RE: AT-5 PROP SIZE ???

The prop is going to look small in front of that big round cowl... I'd start with an 11x6 myself... I think you'll need more pitch to fly the plane than your 11x5 will offer. A 12 inch prop would look better...I've never had a .46 that spun a 12x6 very well... they will turn up an APC 12x4 nicely BUT again I think that plane will need more pitch. If you really want a nice size prop hanging off the nose... go 4 stroke;)

G'day Mate,
In our club we run 12x6 APC's on OS 46AX's in trainers, they spin at 9,700 on the ground, they are great, but if the 46AX is run in try a 12x5 or 11x7 or 8 it will be fine.

Hi!
You ought to try a 11x6 APC first. If that isn't the best prop, go for a 11,5x6 APC, 12x4 or 12x5 APC.
