First plane - Projeti

Hello everyone. I'm new to this sport and have only spent a few hours or so flying a 2 channel glider.

I've almost finished assembling a Projeti wing and am looking forward to a launch of this model soon. Any advice for my maiden powered flight? I've been told that it is not an ideal model for a novice but I'm going to give it a go anyway. Maybe I'll luck out and get it down in one piece. :)

Cheers,
Evan.

Make sure you throw her into the wind. Nice and easy on up elevator upon release. Should be great.

Have fun.

Just wondering how your first flight went with your Projeti? Is it still in 1 peice? You can't just come in and say your about to fly it and then never come back. We like to hear flight reports.

projeti for a first plane?

if you keep it slow it might be ok but that thing is way too fast for any kind of beginner plane.

I am kinda of newbie to RC my self
3 months after my solo,my trainer show's it with lot's of repair's but she still flying i'm flying my first project 4 star 40
tail dragger with just a few miss hap's I love it. here are cardinal Quot's to remember from now on, when it's coming at you, go to the low wing to level it / flair just be for contact when landing,if your aporch is bad when landing go around again be for it's to late to recover.and never flay over or land toward pit's.Even if it mean's duping you plane.
good luck on you solo rich PS let us know how you first flt go's

The first flight

Thanks for the interest. First flight actually went quite well - although being a beginner I tried to fly the plane too slow. It eventually stalled and nose dived into the grass. Warning to Projeti owners: don't try heating the nose cone in hot water if you need to reshape it. It deforms and then hardens - never to be maleable again. The nose is now foam and tape - functional but not as sleek as before. Check out the picture of first take off (a bit boring but still pretty cool for me :)

Cheers everyone,
EvZ.

glad to hear it went well! Stalling that plane is nothing to be worried about, many experienced R/Cer's would have done the same thing! Congrats.

That's what I'm talking about EvZ. Thanks for dropping back in and telling us how it went. Really nice take off picture. I love how fast the projeti climbs out. Climbs at a really nice angle and straight. Glad you had a successful first flight. You did a whole allot better than some others. Believe it or not the Projeti glides Super! Every flight so far that i've had mine, i do dead stick landings. I just run it WOT until the motor stops. Then circle the park a couple times until it wants to land. Just let it come in at a nice fast/level pace. Don't try and flare it. Just let it slide. I know i really shouldn't do that tho'. You really need to keep some motor power just incase you have to abort the landing. Well again good luck and happy flying.

well not as bad as another projeti I have seen.

RCadmin had a midair with his, broke it into 3 parts. he used foam glue on it. now its ugly but it still flys

Sorry to make you think that that was my Projeti. The one in the 'crash' forum belongs to my flying partner - KevMan. We both got Projeti's at the same time.

Mine has been crashed again since it's maiden flight but thankfully the wings are still joined together. I'm thinking about retiring it and getting some practice with a coreflute mugi before I launch the Projecti again.

It was quite funny watching Kev's Projeti go down, there was the scream of the 10 cell speed 400 as the plane disappeared behind a line of trees and seconds later a loud "whoooahh" from a practicing soccer team that it crashed 30 feet away from. We were all lucky that day.

The Projeti was supposed to be my independant practice vehicle. I'm being instructed with my 2m glider by someone who when I'm struggling to make any progress into a head wind can bring my glider back as though it's attached by a piece of string. I guess I just wanted to fly before I could flap.

Again, thanks for the interest,
Cheers,
Evan.
