Sig Four Star 60 ARF
Hey guys I was talking to some people and I was told to either take some clear tape or more covering and add some to my hing points to make them more efficient. I would like some input on this as to weather this is an important step to do or if it is needed at all. I was told to do this on all hing points top and bottom the ailerons rudder and elevator. Any advice?

RE: Sig Four Star 60 ARF
mike i just finished mine about 4 weeks ago and i fly it with a 4 stroke os 91 and i have not added and tape to my control surfaces, hing them nice and tight and it shouldnt be a problem, then again you could tape them if you want, mostly its done to prevent fluttering

RE: Sig Four Star 60 ARF
the hotter the aircraft the more you want to tape the hinge line especially in 3d aircraft which adds strength and reduces flutter on larger then normal surfaces. AS you get to be a better pilot you will want to have the slightly improved performance of a taped hinge but if you don't want to it is not necessary

i have a 4*60 kit built last year fitted with a tower hobbies .75. i didn't tape the line and i fly full throttle almost all the time. i just make sure i don't have any slop in my control rods. as of yet, i haven't had any problems with flutter in any maneuvers that i've tried. (haven't tried the flat spin yet though, i've heard the 4* series don't like to recover from flat spins) |
