Which second plane

Hello,
I currently have a GWS slow stick and i am wanting to move up to a little more experienced plane. I have had the slow stick for about a year. actually to be exact i got it for my 12th birthday and i just turned 13 5 days ago. I have gotten a little experienced and started doing loops and stuff but would like somthing with a little more speed and that can climb faster, kind of do simple tricks but nothing like the advanced 3-D's. I wouldnt like to spend a fortune on a plane but i dont wanna cheap out and get a peice of junk either.LOL
A link to a good plane would be nice but i dont care if i get one or not.
Thanks

Sorry i forgot to say it needs to be an electric that is fairly easy to handlaunch
LOL
Thanks

Zagi hands down. Durable as hell and flies easy at half power. Easy to fix too if you do break something, which I doubt I've nose it in from +50 feet and picked it back up and thrown it again. Only thing you need to get used to is the elevons other than that no problem!

RE: Which second plane

hey jelly bean, i would recommend an Aerobird Challenger. it is fast and aerobatic and it is pretty easy to hand launch.

Or, if you want something a little more aerobatic i would suggest a GP U-CAN-DO 3D EP.

Both of these planes i own and they fly great.

RE: Which second plane

well out of those 3 planes from both of u i would pick the zagi or the u can do EP. Would the u can do be too hard? i dont want somthing im gonna smash too peices the first time i launch it... I am watching the video right now of the u can do and it looks so awesome!
Thanks for both

RE: Which second plane

I really like the looks of the u can do! and i have realflight G2 that my dad got for practicing so he could get into heli's... but he got a glow trainer plane insted. i have practiced on there and its not too hard to fly with alerons. if the video is right it takes a lot to snap a wing or somthing with one of the u can do's isnt it?
Thanks

I dont think it would be to much on (very) low rates. BUT, before you try to solo it wouldnt be a bad idea to have an experienced pilot take off for you so you can get a feel for the plane while its (high) in the air. Wouldn't hurt to do this a couple of times. Thats what I did on the Extra, it was my second powerd plane and its still in one piece... knock on balsa.

However I do highly recomend the Zagi, nothing beats it on the scale of indestructable....

Thanks for the hep

RE: Which second plane

o yea and isnt there a few different zagi's? or is there only one cus it seems like there were a couple with curled wing tips and the kind that the one in the video shows.
Thanks

RE: Which second plane

There IS another Zagi...the Zagi Fixx, but its a very slow flier and probably not what youre looking for.

[link=http://www.zagi.com/media/ZagiFixxWebClip1.wmv]Fixx[/link]

I wouldnt go with the twin engine zagi just because of the way it eats batteries. The Tazz if good but costs around $275 depending where you look. However there is the Zagi Xs for $175...Its basicly a Tazz without the brushless motor. Even so its still plenty fast enough for areobatics.

well i like the looks of the zagi's, but their so expensive! LOL I think i want a great planes slinger
Heres a link
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDSC1&P=0
It looks like it performs like the zagi
Thanks

RE: Which second plane

Looks good to me...wing loading is 25% lower to... 8.4OZ! [X(] Can't beat that. I've never really looked at the slinger before, but after comparing them the slinger sounds like the better machine. And $225 for everything to fly it? Sounds even better...

Machinegun21 07-24-2006 02:02 AM

RE: Which second plane

The u-can-do is nearly indestructibal. it is made out of this stuff called flight flex and so when you crash it, you just pick it back up and re launch.

jelly bean 07-24-2006 11:33 AM

RE: Which second plane

ok I ordered the slinger from tower cus i had an inconvenionce cupon and a $10 off for order over $100 and i didnt need radio or receiver, or servo's because im using the ones from my slow stick
Thanks and i will let u know how it flies when i get it and assemble it if i spelt that right[&:] LOL

jelly bean 07-25-2006 09:15 AM

RE: Which second plane

Thanks

RE: Which second plane

Hey jelly bean, I hope you're looking forward to Friday! Several members of one of my local clubs have Slingers and they all have a ball flying them. The slinger can be slowed down to fly really gently. The guys in the club do this and fly around in "formation" around the field, stretching flight times out to twenty or twenty five minutes sometimes.

Of course, the Slinger is no slouch at full throttle if you're in the mood for some high speed flying. They're quite impressive when doing loops and shooting across the field at top speed.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned here yet is that you'll need channel mixing capabilities to fly the elevons on the Slinger. Hopefully you have a computer radio with channel mixing built in. If not, you can buy a simple mixing module that plugs into your receiver. Make sure an experienced "flying wing" pilot helps you set up the mixing for the control surfaces and center of gravity. Flying wings can be just a bit tricky in these areas for the novice pilot.

RE: Which second plane

when i ordered the plane from towers i ordered a mixing module too so i have that part taken care of! i hope the plane comes friday like it said!
Thanks

RE: Which second plane

ok i got the slinger like 6 days ago, built it, flew it 2 nights ago and had one succesful flight, took it down cus it was getting bad with muskitos, but then we threw it back up again and i had it about 50ft. up there and it wing tip stalled and nose dived strait down, i cut the power and there was no damage to it. i flew it last night again and had a perfect flight, used 3/4 to a hole battery pack but it started getting too dark, made a succesfull landing and walked back home with one of these :D LOL so thats how my 1st and second flight went.
Thanks for any help given

RE: Which second plane

Good for you jelly bean!! I'm glad you found the 2nd plane you wanted & that you are happy with the choice you made. You sound like a pretty good kid with a lot more patience than I had at 13 yrs old, or 18, or 28, or 38[X(] or 48[:@], oh well, maybe I'll grow up too someday.;)

jelly bean 08-02-2006 09:15 AM

RE: Which second plane

lol i hardly have any patience! my dad helped me build it and i was getting very impatient cus he would watch tv for an hour... no work done, then help on the plane for like 10 minutes, and it took up 4 3 hour days to finish a plane that should only take like 1 3-4 hour day.....
LOL so yea im not as patient as ya think:D
but thanks for the coment on it anyways.
