That depends on how quickly you want them charged, and how long you want the batteries to last. A safe fast charge on Nicads and Nimh cells is "C", which is the capacity of the pack in mA. So for a 270mah pack, "C" would be .27 amps, round it to .3 amps.

Charging a little faster gets the charge done faster, but wears out the batteries faster. Charging slower is better for the batteries and they will live longer.

Now, you are talking about Nicad or Nimh cells, right? Not a 2 cell Lipo pack? Lipos are totally different.

Oh, I forgot, if you want to charge "overnight" then the rate is C/10, or in your case .027 amps or 27mA. That will be the rate used for slow charging a pack, and you can safely leave them on a bit overly-long at that rate with out damage, though not on forever.

Trickle charge is C/50 usually, and at that rate, the battery won't really increase in charge, but will be held ready for use and can be left that way just about forever.

If you charge at "C" or even C/2, don't overcharge the pack, you can cause it to overheat and be damaged.

UM...that sounded like it could have been a Lipo pack from the little bit of info given.
