remaidend the stuka
well after another 6 months getting the stuka back together, i finally remaiden her on sunday. i was real worried cuz she weighed about 3 pounds more than she used to. at least it seemed that way to me. but i got her off the ground and flew some circuts. she was real slow to turn. (should i turn up high rates or is there something else i can do to get more throw out of my ailerons?) then she dead sticked. but i brought her around for a pinpoint landing. it was so exciting. i was shaking the whole time i was flying and by the time i did the dead stick landing i could hardly stand. i hadnt been that excited since i first started to learn how to fly. its good to know that the butterflys can still kick in.

RE: remaidend the stuka
Hi Mr. Bass! Nice to hear the ol Stuka is flying in the clouds again. Don't be afraid to up the aileon throws! I maxed mine out before its first flight based on reports that the beast will barely turn on lower rates. My throw rate is so high that if I move the sticks back and forth quick enough, the ailerons can generate their own wind! Seriously though, with the high rates the plane turns as quick as any of my sport planes. Once the plane rolls over the half way mark it does slow down and the roll rate ends up being rather leisurly. I have flown it inverted across the field but the wings have a fair bit of dihedral built into them and the plane wants to right itself like a trainer. Hope this helps, Fast! [8D]

RE: remaidend the stuka
so my best bet is upping the high rates?

RE: remaidend the stuka
I only use the max rate that I can achieve mechanically which is so high it looks stupid but it works! You lose a ton of efficiency with the ailerons being below the wing and the really high rates just makes the ailerons work as well as it does on my other planes. Control wise, its doesn't make the plane not too sensitive at all, just nicely controllable even at low speeds. With a breeze I almost hover mine in and touch down right in fronnt of me. This of course freaks out the other pilots watching because you are not supposed to do that with a war bird! [8D]

RE: remaidend the stuka
ok so i set it at the highest rate possible right? and do you use any expotential?

RE: remaidend the stuka
Nope, not needed. Flys nice at these control rates. I haven't measured it but guessing that the throws on mine are about 1 1/2" for both up and down. :D
