Canopy Glue? What else can I use?
 

It there another glue I can use that will hold this on and dry clear? My LHS is 1 hour away.

If you're in a pinch and need something else you can get clear silicon adhesive from the hardware store, or Wal-mart, and use that to attach your canopy.

Instead of glue, this is what I do. Glue some light ply behind the canopy rails, the drill some small holes and screw your canopy on. I have never had an issue. Sevo size screws work well. Good luck.

I use ‘Weldbond’ from Lowe’s and it seems to be the same stuff only less expensive.

Goop definitely works. I've glued canopies and some plastic pushrod exit covers right to covering material. Had to pry them off to remove them after a crash. The covering actually tore. It's very similar to PFM, but a thinner consistency.

Consider using small screws to attach the canopy. I have never been completely satisfied with attaching canopies with glues, and I have tried both CA and RC-56. Small screws seem to work best and look best IMO.

I fyou are going to use light ply and screws, be sure and harden the holes with thin CA before you screw in. As a matter of fact, its a good idea to screw in the screws, take them back out and then re apply the CA so that the threads themselves are hard. Do not even bother trying to do this in any type of balsa. The vibration will very quickly cause the screws to wallow the holes.

A trick I read, but have not tried for the RC56 Canopy Glue is to put it in the freezer and let it gel. Then apply it. That way you can get it exactly where you want it and by the time it warms up it will already be in place. Otherwise its like trying to work with water.
