RE: Futaba TX - RX combination

If its Futaba then yes it doesn't matter.

When you mix and match say Futaba and JR then it depends on a couple of factors.

PCM recievers only work with their type of transmitter.

Futaba uses high and low band recievers, make sure you use the appropriate one.
Off hand I think below channel 36 is low band, (I might be wrong so research it)

so it is not enough that both are 35Mhz?

Missleman - hi/lo band has no effect in the 35 MHz band, only in 72 MHz band.

mouthpiec - your question is definately NOT stupid and I don't have a solid answer for you. You will need to make sure the RX is on the correct channel and has the correct "shift".

Some of the more technical radio questions might better go to BAX in the Futaba radio support forum.

Be sure to mention in your text that you are in Malta and on 35 MHz. You don't want an inadvertant oversight. Good luck. :)

If you can provide BAX with the manufacturer and model numbers of the RX in question it would help him.

If both are Futaba you MAY be OK. Are they both FM or both PCM or what? More involved than just the channel/frequency.

i think that they have to be both PCM or FM. Am i right?

RE: Futaba TX - RX combination

A PCM transmitter will usually also be capable of transmitting in FM mode. A FM transmitter will only tranmit in FM. Recievers must match the mode the transmitter is operating in including "shift".

RE: Futaba TX - RX combination

A little clarification here. BOTH PCM and PPM radios transmit FM. FM is the carrier of the signal, PCM and PPM are how that signal is encoded. This one does get confusing for a lot of people out there.

RE: Futaba TX - RX combination

There are a few BASIC things the TX and RX need to have in common.

1. BAND - They must be manufactured to operate in the same band area. 72 MHz, 53 MHz, 27 MHz, HAM band or what ever. Don't cross.
2. Channel - Crystal or module determined. In US only RX crystal can be operator changed but he can change TX modules. Other countries have their own rules.
3. Modulation - AM, Regular FM or PCM
4. Shift
