what is the best flight simulator?
Hi,
I'm new in the rc hobby, and would like to buy a flight simulator. But I was wondering which one is the best to learn fast and easy(G3, afp, etc)? thanks! |
RE: what is the best flight simulator?
I say go with G3 I know alot of people with reflex and dont like it. I still have G2 and use it frequently.

The only thing I will suggest is that you make sure that your computer can handle whatever you get. A lot of the newer sims need a pretty powerful graphics card to make them work

RE: what is the best flight simulator?
That's good advice from Minn, I see a lot of people buying AFPD or G3 only to find out they don't have enough computer to run the thing. If you do have a decent computer with a good graphics card then it becomes the old Ford vs Chevy thing between AFPD & G3. I just have G2 & it works just fine for me. The one thing you need to know is that while a sim can be a good tool for practice, it is not a replacement for proper instruction. "Which one is the best to learn fast & easy?" No such animal!! The best way to learn is with a qualified Instructor, the sim is just for practice!

Thanks for those fast answer!
I have a P4, with 1gigs of RAM, and ATI 9600 Pro graphic card. I hope it will do. Are those two (afpd and G3) allow you to use your transmitter (I have a JR XP6102) ? |

ORIGINAL: buzzlightyear Are those two (afpd and G3) allow you to use your transmitter (I have a JR XP6102) ? I have flown AFPD, G2, G3 and reflex. they all suck IMHO. BUT....if you can fly G3, you can fly, (control-wise anyway), the rest is psychological and weather-related. AFPD is the best looking of all of them, but it's too easy to master IMHO; prolly better for more advanced guys than me, (great for 3D). All that being said, sims are just a convenient way to get some familiarity with the controls. They are not a substitute for practice. And remember, there is no 'reset' button at the field. (We looked into one, but it was just too expensive to keep all those planes in RTF condition). |
RE: what is the best flight simulator?
buzzlightyear,
That pc will work for G3. G3 comes with a simulated TX that will ALSO let you plug your present TX into it and use your TX. Or just use the Futaba mfgd simulated TX and fly it without having to charge your TX. |
RE: what is the best flight simulator?
I use G2 because it is less demanding on the computer and it will run well on my laptop.
I like your handle :D |
RE: what is the best flight simulator?
I have used G2, G3 and AFPD and to me there is nothing that compares to AFPD. It is about a realistic as it gets. G3 is pretty good too, but I do not think that it feels as real as a well setup plane in AFPD. www.aeroflypro.com . Your computer will run it with that setup. I had a 9600 and it worked fine.
Also, someone mentioned battery consumption. Pull the frequency module out of your transmitter and the batteries will last a VERY long time. I can go weeks without needing to charge on a 1500mah NIMH battery. |
