Kwik Fuel Valves or ? - Cowl

Hey Guys,

I am working on a plane with a complete cowl. How do you manage filling the fuel without having to install a Kwik valve? Do poeple use the Fuel line plugs and just let them hang out?

Thanks!

This way just a split loop out and back in. Never problems from problamatical fueling valves or lost fuel dots and extra plumbing of a three line setup.

This is a two line system the same as used on any trainer. Cowls are easy to remove or replace and the most important factor of all, Its the only setup that will allow the pinch tuning method. Something you cannot do with a fully cowled engine using the third line or fueling valve.

I prefer using fuel dots. Their easy to use, nothing to malfuntion, and have a nice look on the side of the plane. Much better than fuel line routed outside of the cowl. I won't use fuel kwik fill valves any longer. They are a royal pain. They either stick blocking fuel flowing to the engine, or they stick and all the fuel in your tank flows out onto the ground. On top of that, it's easy to lose the probe that you need to fuel them.

Hope this helps

That looks great. Who makes the hardware I see?

Nice bird , Great Idea.

I have a fuel dot on my Patty. Think I'll switch it over to your P-38 system.

Less parts and fuel iine to cause problems.

Thanx

I guess it's just a matter of personal choice. I like using the three line system with a fuel dot. I've never had any problem with losing a fuel dot. I refuse to use a kwik filler fuel valve because they are IMO junk! I can see where the 2 line with a loop on the outside would function very well, but not nearly as clean looking to me as a nice fuel dot is. So I guess it just boils down to what you like personally.

Your are right. It is a matter of choice. I' ve been using fuel dots for years. I just never really trusted them.
