1st plane
Hello,
I want to get an electric plane (prefferably a warbird). My question is, I have alot of flight simulator time and believe I could skip the fly by themselves trainers. Are flying with a stick on a pc and the slower electrics similar to fly?. Or should I take the baby steps neccesary and get a plane i really dont want?. |
Where are you planning on flying?
Do you know about Buder Park (i-44 and hiway 141) south of valley park. This is a public park. You must have AMA insurance to fly there.
I have not had good luck with the electric low-cost planes. They are more difficult to fly due to their marginal power. There are probably some good electrics out there, but be careful. I am strictly a glow and gas user so I am probably biased. There are some regular electric flyers at Buder, too. Dave |
1st plane
Thanks for the info Dave I am just on the illinois side, i wasn't sure where the rc fields were in the area. If you happen to hear of the better electric planes to go with please let me know. Until then I will due more research, and buy rubber band powered to keep me occupied. :D
Thanks Ed |
East Side RC flies in Edwardsville
ESRC flies on the SIUE campus property. It is a private club that leases the site from the university. annual dues are $45 for adults. discounts for full time students.
There is also a site in Columbia IL, but I do not have details on that one. Also on Roxana near hiway 111 and 255. Post a new question in the electric plane forum asking for advice on a good electric trainer. maybe there is one that will fit your needs. If you are getting good on the simulator, this will help a lot when you go to the real thing. Even the glow powered trainers are fully aerobatic (loops, rools, stall turns, etc.) so they can be a lot of fun. Many electric planes will not perform as well as a glow-powered plane (this is my bias coming out again). |
