Engine problems!!!!
 

imputting a Super tiger 6 in one of my planes, it ran great on the bench, but when i hook it up in the plane it dies at midstick about 1/3 of the time i rev it up, just completely kills it. i know its not tuning relatd because i have tried all different settings and it worked on the bench, any suggestions?

I'll bet it is tuning. There is only one right setting, not several and that is what your going to have to find. Anybody around to help you out?

Cyclic is probably right. But think about what changed. On the bench your fuel cell center was at what height in relation to the spray bar virsus where it is now? You may have lost or gained fuel flow due to gravity. also is the motor upright. inverted, 90 degree and is it the same as how it was on the bench? Just a thought.

everything is about the same, its a hostick 40 by the way. ill mess with it tomarow i dont think its tuning because i tried just about everything. and it would work sometimes and not other times even when i didnt change the tuning, and by the way if the fuel tank was to rotate, could it cause this problem?

Yes if the tank rotates your vent tube is submereged blowing bubles in your fuel tank. At 1/3 throttle you may have enough bubles you actually start sucking them into the feed line causing a lean situation.

I had a hard landing once and the fuel flow got stuck somehow preventing more than 1/3 throttle without killing the engine.
I thought that the engine was damaged, but then discovered a problem in my fuel tank!

The tube inside the tank had a very small hole on it and it wasn't picking up the fuel properly... Could be something similar in your case. Don't overlook it :)

I have found that often if a plane actually dies in midrange transition the cause is a slightly lean LSN setting. It's an easy thing to try at least.

Hello; Another possibility is that your engine mount is allowing your fuel tank to vibrate so much that it is foaming up the fuel, and foamy fuel makes lean mixtures. One fellow at our field has this problem constantly, he's always trying to cram the largest tank into the smallest hole, which doesn't leave enough room for some vibration deadening material.
