jaygongin,

Haven't heard of that plane before. The radio sounds like is a standard Futaba air born - the S148 servo's are the older standard servo, and the receiver is the standard that will work with any newer radio (just watch the high/low bands).

As far as the covering - sounds like that tail needs to be recovered. You may want to take a good look at all the covering on the plane - if it's not in the greatest of shape it may be just as easy to strip and recover the whole plane. This will also allow for a good inspection of the entire structure. If your not in a club, try to locate one - I'm sure there are some members there that will be happy to look the plane over for you.

Sounds like you have the making for a good trainer.

thunder tigre is probably a sticker on the airplane for the engine manufacturer.

covering may be OK, hard to tell from here. Same with the packing tape, you have to decide how well it is holding. I've seen it hold for years or blow off in hours if not put on a clean surface. S148 servos are fine and that model JUST went out of production and I fly several, they are good FM RX's. Engine isn't anything to brag about but it is new and will do the job. Prop should be approx 10x6 or 10x5 in size, you didn't mention size. MCster Airscrew is good for training as they will take a beating. AVOID wood props for training, they break too easy. Do a pull test on all hinges to make sure still solid in plane and check entire plane for structural damage.

FIND A CLUB AND INSTRUCTOR PLEEEEZE.........

There are a lot of clubs in the Houston area including NASA and Texas City clubs. BTW, I used to live down that way.

RE: any info

It's a race a bunch of guys are having in North Carolina for planes powered by Cox reed valve engines.

Here's the thread from the beginning - it's in the 1/2A forum. Some fun reading as these guys poke fun at each other. As far as I know Banjoairplane will be one of the participants (a bit to far for me to make the drive or else I'd be there too).
