Parachute from TH 40 trainer
I haven't even flown yet and my 7 yr old boy wants to know if I can drop a parachute guy from my plane. Have you guys ever done this? He has a cheap little guy I could start with and then progress to the G.I. Joes. I have a 4 channel radio w/4 servos. Didn't know if I could hook it up the the rudder or throttle servo some how, ie. after gaining altitude cutting engine to release him some how, or use full right or left rudder to release.
Not very important, but something I could work on untill I get in the air. Thanks guys |

Yes it can be done. I use the the throtle and set it to release when at the idle position

Try this one...
Mount a cup to the top of the wings using some popsicle sticks glues to the bottom...use your imagination. Put your guy in there (you may have to put him on top of the chute to prevent him from flying out). When you get to altitude, roll and out he comes. Zee |
I ran into this at one point

Originally posted by Ghostbear Your radio might be an issue with this system. GB If you chose to use an existing channel (i.e. rudder or throtle) then there is no problem however you do have to become a little creative when setting up the release. FlyingZee suggestion is simple and easy to do. try it first and then get into a more complex release afterwoods. BTW make sure you have a spotter whose job it is to watch the "jumper" while YOU concentrate on the plane (guess how I came by this little piece of knowledge  ) |
Couple of helpful sites I hope
Try these web sites might help with some of your questions and for a little money might can even buy a jumper.
