Sig Hog-Bipe ???
Does anyone have any opinions of the Sig Hog-Bipe? I am thinking of purchasing this kit and I would like to know how it flies and how well the kit builds? What size engine is best for it?
Thanks Mark |
RE: Sig Hog-Bipe ???
Opinions??? Only that it's one of my favorite planes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a fantastic plane and a great looking bipe!!!! And this plane sees like it was designed for an OS 91 FS 4-stroke (a Saito 100 would be a good alternate). I've had 3 of the Sig Pigs and I can tell you that you won't be going wrong with it.

RE: Sig Hog-Bipe ???
I built one a couple years ago. They build very easy and fly great. The instructions are clear with a lot of illustrations. I used a Saito 1.00 but a .91 would be plenty. If you decide to build one go with the dual aileron servo option.

if it is built straight, it is a GREAT flying machine. very agile, very stable, and looks verrrrrry good in the air. I have an OS FS 91 on mine. It is a great plane!

It was already in the plane when I bought it from a flying buddy, but he found it at Toys R Us.

I have had one of these also. Awesome plane! Just be aware that it glides like a brick in reverse. If you have a deadstick get the nose down and hope your close to the runway. I have seen capable (lucky) pilots do amazing things with this plane. It is very agile and the classic barnstormer looks make it a favorite of mine. It is a perfect match for a 91 4st, but I would love to see one with a Saito 100! Landings under power are trainer-esque. I sold mine and have regretted it ever since, I will have another.

RE: Sig Hog-Bipe ???
What is the recommended Center of Gravity on the Hog Bipe...? I have a friend that has his balanced at 4 1/2 inches back on the top wing... It seems to glide very good and has -1 degree of incidence in the top wing... I have just purchased an older model already built without engine and electronics.... and would like to know what your recommendations are for this bipe.. Thanks...

RE: Sig Hog-Bipe ???
Here is a GREAT build thread for the Sig Pig: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_25..._1/key_/tm.htm
MUCH great info in there and enough to keep you happily reading for many hours. :) |
RE: Sig Hog-Bipe ???
That is a great source of information for building a hog bipe... mine is built and I just wanted to know the recommended CG for the hog bipe... I read most of that post looking for the words recommended CG... I did not find that but I found how you can determine the balance.... I have since found the recommended CG for the Hog Bipe to be 3 5/8 to 4 5/8 inch from the leading edge of the top wing... recommended that you start with 3 5/8... thanks
