What about a space walker II
I an thinking about the space walker II as my second plane. My first was an alpha 60 and i want to move up. This will be my first low wing plane. I talked to the guy at the local hobby shop and he said it was a really good first low wing plane. I also really like the look of the plane. Is this a good plane or is the guy just tring to sell a plane. Any info would help.
Thanks Keith |
RE: What about a space walker II
It's an OK plane. Not a real easy to takeoff tail dragger. Lots of pull to the left on takeoff that requires a good amount of right rudder. After that it is just mediocre in the air. I know from experience because I own one. A much better second plane would be a SIG 4 Star or Hangar 9 Ultra Stick. Both are easy to fly tail draggers that are way more fun the Spacewalker II.

Keith - if you are able to fly your trainer well, meaning you tell the plane where to go and your landings are well greased then you can handle the Space Walker. As with any tail dragger she will pull to the left but who cares, its not that bad, what you need to learn is to do whatever it takes to keep a plane tracking straight, be it in the air or on the ground. Which SW are you looking at?

RE: What about a space walker II
I really did not know there were more then one type of space walker. I am thinking getting the Spacewalker/Saito FA-72 combo from horizon hobby. Is a four stroke engine harder to fly?

RE: What about a space walker II
I mean what brand? The 4C engines are powerful and will turn big props ... they are not harder to fly. Its nice to hear it putter about. If you get a Saito then go for the 82 once and for all. :)

I own a spacewalker..I love it...it's really my first gas plane... I did firebird commander, stryker previously...and I made the right choice..on the gas plane and the spacewalker... a solid plane...and fun to fly..plus great looker!

RE: What about a space walker II
I do believe that you are right about the Space Walkers only being available in ARF form. Sea Gull is a good brand name for this ARF and you can get one of these from Horizon Hobby. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SEA2050[8D]

RE: What about a space walker II
The Seagull SPace Walker flies nice, I tried my pal's before and its very nice. I am sure with a Saito 72 she will be so fine to fly. I believe that the under carriage will just about clear a 13x6 prop.
