Is it possible to overcharge a standard 4.8v battery using 50ma? I've heard that 50ma really isnt enough to ever overcharge so is it ok to leave them charging at 50ma for most of the time? Thanks

You can leave a pack on for several days without doing damage, but I don't think you should leave the pack on all the time.

You did't say what ma 4.8 volt battery you are asking about.
A 500ma pack can be left on charge for several days. A 250ma or less battery should not be left on charge more than 8 hrs. whereas a 1000ma pack should be charged 24hrs. A common formula is to charge the pack at least 10 hrs. per the 50x500 factor. known as the 10x. (50ma charger, 500ma pack=10 hrs.) 50ma charger, 1000ma pack=20 hrs.) It is a popular notion that a battery with more than 1200ma should not be charged with only a 50ma charger. |

WHAT CAHRGER AND CHARGE RATE DO I WANT TO USE TO PEAK OUT A 6V 1400 MAH 4 CELL PACK. CAN I USE MY STANDARD WALL CHARGER THAT CAME WITH MY FUTABA SUPER 8 SYSTEM?

JD,
You can go 2.8 amps for a quick charge for that pack. I don't think you can use your standard wall charger; you'll have to get one specifically for five cell packs. |

When it comes to regulated chargers what is the best buy for my money?

Hobbico has a new replacement for their Quick Field Charger, and I got to play with one the other day. Two separate chargers where you can manually set the charge rate, as well as a fairly wide range of cells it can charge on each port. It can also do NICAD, NIMH, and Li-Ions.
