first plane
I got my first plane today. I got the hobbico hobbistar 60. I had no idea it was going to be so big! this thing is going to be awesome. Now I just have to find a place to keep it. LOL I sold almost all my cars to get this plane and all the running gear. Now I have to start building. I am a little leery about building it , so one of the guys from the club are going to help me. I didn't even have to ask. I must have had that look on my face[sm=what_smile.gif] when he asked when I was going to start building. I can't wait to get some flying in. I love my new found hobby. I was already looking at second planes last night , I have extra servos and an extra receiver comin in the mail already. I can see it is goin to be and expensive winter!!! hehehehe

RE: first plane
This hobby can be compared to the addiction of cigarette smoking. When you start to get an urge you smoke another one. Get ready for an awesome ride. The urge for a new plane comes very often. I started last December with 1 kit and now I have 8 RTF and am working on kit #9. #10 is still collecting sanding dust. I'll probably buy another one before I even start on #10. I love it!!!;)
Have fun, Gibbs |

RE: first plane
That Hobbistar 60, in my opinion is the best trainer to lean to fly on. You'll love that plane. What are you going to power it with? I have a Thunder Tiger Pro 61 in mine.

RE: first plane
That is the engine I'm putting in. I just hope it runs ok , traded one of my prized trucks for it. I never bought used engines for my cars before, I would sooner by a used pair of underwear. But $$$ is tight, and I want to fly bad. I'm just hoing and praying it runs ok. My trainer is going to put the engine through some testing before we put her in the air. Always safe than sorry.

RE: first plane
Nick. the aiplane engines aren't subjected to the type of abuse buggy and truck engines are, in my experiences I find most pilots know how to tune an engine and if they aren't sure they err on the rich side. not like car guys (lean for max power and run it till she blows), you should be good with a used engine. just take the time to look it over and make sure eveything look good. find out what the factory settings are and start from scratch.
The plane looks great hope you have a great time with it. |
RE: first plane
Thanks overboard77, I'll let you guys know how it runs the day I get it. And I'm also sure I'll have alot of fun w/ it. I'll just be happy to see it fly after all the time and $$$ I'm spending. But that is what the r/c hobby is all about. "You got to pay to play!"
