Lost In The Sun!
 

I lost my ultra stick 40 today in the sun and when she came out she was inverted and I didn't even know it. I pulled back on the stick and the next thing I knew she was going straight down when I was expecting it to go up. Needless to say she will be miss: o (. So any one here know of another great plane of the same quality? I was looking at the slow poke but I am not sure if how it flies. Is it an easy plane to fly? Thanks for any help

Sorry to hear about the loss of your plane. The correction is to roll and not use elevator to recover. When the plane goes past the sun try using the transmitter to shield the sun (hold it up over the sun) and you will have less chance of being blinded.

As far as the Slo Poke it's a really fun plane but normally comes out tail heavy which is really a bad thing for an experienced pilot and all but fatal to the novice. Maybe the 3rd plane? I recommend the Sig MidStar as a second plane. Others like the derivitaves of the "stick" and the low wing 4* Sig series is also good. No matter what plane get help from an instructor.

I've heard great things about the Sig 4*60. From what I hear, it's just about the perfect second plane. It can fly slow and easy like a trainer then when your ready it will become quite aerobatic, much like the Ultra Stick. Look into it. Good luck!

Awww I really wanted the slow poke too. I thought that the slight dehidro(spelling: o ) and the big wing span would help, but I also know enough to listen to people that have done it much longer then me (makes the plane last longer then 20 sec). I forgot to mention that I was looking for an ARF. With work and school it would take me a very long time to finish it. Thanks again for the help. Great place to get advices

The 4*60 can be purchased as an ARF. I think the 4*40 can be, also. Not sure about the 4*120.

The 40 and 120 are kits. The 4 Star 60 is available as a kit or ARF.

I have the 4 Star 120 with an OS 120 four stroke. Woohoo.... what a floater!!

My guess is that you weren't wearing a hat! The standard hat at our field is the big Aussie type. If you get near the sun at least most of the glare won't be in your eyes. When I teach newbies, I insist that they wear a hat (I have spares in the van if they don't have one of their own) or they don't fly. With the large front area of the Aussie type hat you can also move your head up and down to bump flying bugs out of the way that are getting too close to your face. :p For a good ARF you have some nice choices. For low wings there is the CG Tiger, a CLoud Dancer, any of the 4* sizes, or an Avistar for an aerobatic high wing. Have fun, Fast! :D
