Dura Stik 40 CG Question
Greetings all,
My son and I are nearly finished with a Dura Plane Dura Stik 40 and are trying to correct the CG. It says to balance it at 3-3/8" from the LE by moving the battery(ours is a 4.8v, 600mh) back and forth on the nose. When I place the battery all the way to the front of the fuse, I still have to add 7 oz. to the front to balance it!!! Yikes! I'm using a OS Max .40 FP engine and I'm using 3" wheels instead of the recommended 2.5". Is this ok to add this much to the nose? I appreciate any comments or ideas. |
RE: Dura Stik 40 CG Question
Terbob, are you sure you have the measurment correct? Mine has 3-1/4 inch rubber wheels. There shouldn't be a problem with yours. I am using the same battery and it sits just behind the fuel tank. If you really have to add that much weight there are a few things you can do without adding lead. For one, you can install a larger (like 2.5 to 3inch) aluminum spinner along with an apc prop ( for you about a 10-6) and add about 3 ounces. You can also add an aluminum engine mount and add an ounce.

RE: Dura Stik 40 CG Question
Cambo,
Thanks for the great information! I double checked my wheels, they're 3". I have a small round aluminum spinner already, but I'll get a bigger one along with the aluminum engine mount. I'm using the plastic one that came in the kit. I'm using a 10x6 Airscrew already. Thanks again! Terbob |
