Sullivan Power Pac Battery Case/Charger

Hi,

What do you all think of this? The hobbico version cannot start a OS 91, with it's small battery. I want this to start my YS 1.10. Are they a good piece?

I don't want to do as the other guys do at the field. Use radiator clamps to hold starter to the massive 7amp battery.

Thanks

Get a Heli-Max with onboard batteries. Mine will turn a DA 50 with no problem. It's geared, with 2 motors and 2 batteries. I think the starter itself is only $39.95 and then the cost of 2 batteries.

Go to http://www.temeculavalleyhobbies.com it's where I got mine.

I looked at the heli-maxx starter, and love that all in one design, but it's only rated to .90 engines. I am building my next plant with a 1.10.

Read the part about a DA 50. Do you know what a DA 50 is?? It turns mine with NO PROBLEM!! (Although I don't actually start it that way...just a test I did with it).

Edit: That was not meant to be as rude as it sounds. A DA 50 is a 50cc Gasoline engine which turns a 22-24 inch prop.

Been using my Sullivan Dynatron with the Sullivan battery pack for years. It works great. Put large capacity NICads in it. In the summer I can go a month between charges using it every Saturday and Sunday to start my larger 4 strokes pulus a dozen or so starts of the club trainer each day. Mine will start my Brisson 4.8 twin with no problems.

Gary,
I've got the Sullivan starter and battery pack.
I LOVE them. I fly 40 size but have seen it used on much larger.
In fact, mine has been used by others on larger engines.
I agree with you, strapping a battery to the starter looks bulky and hard to hold.
Good Luck,

Ok, I am looking at the Sullivan starters. The specs for the yellow high torque one, says starts up to .60 engines and some up to 1.20. Well what is it? I have a YS 1.10 and I want to buy their power pac battery holder.

The power pac takes 12 sub c Nicads.

Had problems when using on my Saito 150's - added a 5 cell sc flat pack (salvaged out of discarded drill pack from local hardware store tool department) and strapped to side of the starter and hooked up batteries in series - now at 20+volts - no problems turning over the 150's now. Additional voltage should not be a problem since turn-on time is typically short.
