For a .46 an 11x6 or 11x7 should be plenty

Good choices. I prefer the Master Airscrews on trainers simply because the can take a lot of "abuse" and still stay intact. Props on trainers get their fair share of abuse, so I like to have my students us a prop that they don't have to replace every time the prop strikes the ground. Wood props shatter when you even think about touching them to the ground. APC's are ok too, but don't take as much abuse as the Master Airscrew props will. I give this advice to my students to try and save them some money as they are training. Buy the expensive props after you move on to bigger and better planes, but use something now that keeps a few pennies in the pocket.

Hope this helps

I agree, use the black Master Airscrews. Then when you get to where you can fly well enough to notice the difference, you can try other props and be pleased with the improved performance. :D (Or maybe not, can't trust a prop until you try it.)

Im using a 11x7 black master air screw (MAS) on my LA46. like everyone said they are a great prop for learning seeing as they can take punishment.. Start on a 11x6 if u like which will help to keep ur speed down the move onto the 11x7.

cheers

RE: What prop?

I started out using MAS 11-6 on my 40 size trainer and it worked fine. After a while I tried an MAS 11-5 just to try it and it worked even better. It gave me more pull in a hurry when I needed it and made take offs easier. MY clubs field is grass and when it gets tall and wet the 11-5 prop really makes a difference. :D

I use an 11x5 on my Avistar and I like it. Not too much speed, but plenty of power.

RE: What prop?

I second the 11x5 MAS, lots of pull and it helps slow the plane down for landings. Also I have tried a 11.5X4 APC with good success.

RE: What prop?

11.5 X4 to begin and to have much vertical pull. If you want to go so fast you will lose control, 10 X 6. (Don't pull full up at full throttle. The front of the wing will lift off and really give you a start.)
