What type of foam is recommended for the fuel tank, rx, and batt? I've heard that mouse pads work well then someone told me that they would not eliminate the high frequency vibrations 2 strokes create. I have one plane that stalls midflight and am wondering if the fuel is foaming due to vibration. Thanks!!

I've always used whatever foam rubber is lying around. Like if I order a piece of computer equip, and it's got a piece of foam in the box, I'll set it aside. I have never had a fuel foaming problem yet. I've never tried anything like mouse pad foam though.

I'm like MinnFlyer . . . I use whatever foam I can get my hands on and usually its the stuff that computers come packed in. I have heardof folks using mouse pads, but it seems to me that they might be a tad bit on the heavy side.

I found some cheap kneeling pads and seat cushions in the garden section at Home Depot. They are just a big tan colored 1" thick piece of foam rubber. No covering on them at all, just foam rubber. I have been taking a very sharp kitchen knife and splitting this stuff in half so it is 1/2" thick, and using it in my planes. It is cheap (like $2.00 for the big cushion sized one) and seems to work well. :D The foam rubber my LHS sells is $5.00 for a small piece of 1/2 inch. Ridiculous! :eek:

Any thihg that isulates hard surfaces from hard surfaces. Shaking action and freqency of vibration damages radio and air craft .

Car wash sponges, Cheap, plenty big. Cut one up with scissors to fit the space, then hollow out a place with the Xacto for the gear inside it.

the dubro or hobbico latex foam is softer (more shock absorbent ?) than the normal sponge. yes it is more $ though

That's interesting, as I've been using old mouse pads for several years, with no problems whatsoever...and where did I get the idea?...because of the little orange mouse pads that come with Hitech Recievers:):):)

Been using foam for redoing car seats for years...
Here, a 4x8x1/4 sheet is about $8.00....(life time supply)
