First Flight

My first flight today.. (not solo). I have just assembled an ARF and got an experience club member to buddy/instruct me. He took off and landed it for me whilst I flew it in figure 8's and circles. I was fantastic to see it get off the ground and fly without too much trim. :D The part we were a bit wary of was if a Mode 2 Transmitter (I prefer mode 2) could connect to a Mode 1 (He prefers Mode 1) Transmitter. It worked a treat.

Congratulations

You're on your way to a lifelong hobby and friend if you so desire. Bet the weather is better where you are than here :(

Congratulations!
Now pay attention to your instructor/buddy, and look foreword to your "solo".
I can recall my first flight. (it was pre-buddy cord, pre-ARF). As I was handed the transmitter, after my instructor achieved the "3 mistake high" altitude, it was such a feeling of accomplishment and joy to see it actually fly!
It was a very forgiving "Butterfly", and I was able to solo after about four sessions.
Good luck...croz

:D I also had my first flight today. We had to wait for the winds to die down as we were flying park flyers.

I built a Beaver by GWS. My cusion has a Pico-Stick by them also. He flew his first so we could see how the winds was and it was tumbling. The plane bounced all over the place for a while.

 We next got my plane into the air. I let him take it up and trim it out a bit. As we found out it might be a little tail heavy so I've got to re-check the CG.

 We got his plane up again and I flew it for a while until the battery weakened and it would not climb. So I landed it with not problems.

I'm looking forward to getting mine up again. I'm also checking on a Pico-Stick as it is a lot of fun. Very good flyer and forgiving.

You bet, I went today and got a Pico-Stick. It's slower that the Beaver and does not require as large of are to fly so I'll be able to fly more often. Then I'll get the Beaver out when I'm able to go to a larger field.

Just can't wait until summer when the wind dies down a bit. Yes its hotter, but I'll be having fun.
