The Next Step?
 

Hi Everyone,

Well, I'm new to RC planes and a few months ago bought my first RC plane, a Cessna 182 3ch. I've found it quite simple to fly and I'm actually getting bored with this plane. My question to everyone is this. What would you recommend moving up to next. I would like to get into the low wing class of planes, but I'm not sure what would be a good plane. Any suggestions would help.

Was your first plane nitro or electric and what do you want for the next?

4-channel glow is what i'd do, but thats just me. Trainer style still.

It was electric. Again not really sure if I should go Nitro or stay with electric. I was hoping that someone had had the same type of experiences. I find the downfall with electric is the wait time for the recharging of the batteries so, I'd probably want to move to Nitro.

If you are willing to get with an instructor and get proper help I'd say get a 4 ch nitro trainer like a Alpha 40, Arrow or similar. See RCKen's list posted above.

Please guys[&:]..there is no such thing as a "Nitro "thing.
Our engines are Glow...powered ...Not Nitro!

You might want to take a look at the Thunder Tiger Pegasus .40 Super Combo:

My suggestions for a second plane would be:

H9 Super Stick 40
GP Easy Sport 40

Either is easy to fly yet much more maneuverable than a trainer and both still have some minior self recovery characteristics.

Personally dont like the avistar,my brother just finished crashing, er.. recycling his a couple of months ago. The Accel 2000 is nearly the same as the Avistar,but better covering, pinned hinges, and seemed like they used better and more epoxy on it.

From what it sounds like you already have, are you looking for a parkflyer, or a big glow plane(that really should only be flown at a club)

Parkflyer: Parkzone F-27 B Stryker-Durable, quick, not a bad 4 channel.

Glow: Almost any trainer style plane, again check RC Ken's list.
