servo dancing at switch on
]I've just finished assembly of a GP Stilk .40 ARF and when I switch it on, the servos start dancing all over the place........I assembled it according to the instructions with the rx and bat up front of the servo tray.......the antenna is poked outside mid fuse thru a small hole and routed along side to the trailing edge and up to the tip of the vertical stab........does it need to be in a plastic tube? I've seen that setup before.......I took it thru the side of the fuse to the outside so it would not have to pass over the servo tray/pushrods and the four landing gear support bracket "blindnuts" on the fuse floor.....also included and installed is a 24" Y-harness for the wing servos...this seems to be a lot of wire in a small space on top of the rx and bat........would it do any good to shorten the harness or is that even a option?

RE: servo dancing at switch on
Is the TX on first?
Make sure all the connections and the on/off switch is good. If you want to come out to the Henry County field on Saturday, i will help you with it. |
RE: servo dancing at switch on
you probably dont want to hear this but you need a new switch you probably got moisture in it the same thing happened to mine.
tower has some silicone covers for like 2.70 they will protect it |
RE: servo dancing at switch on
are you using a computer transmitter with pcm and ppm modulation. If the reciever is ppm and the radio is transmitting in pcm the servos will jump and pulse. You have not stated the transmitter or reciever and this info will be helpful

RE: servo dancing at switch on
If in fact the TX is on, collapse the antenna and back it away 10 feet, or so, from the plane. You might be swamping it, especially if both RX and TX batteries are fully charged.

flybyme, a 24" Y harness??? You only need at the most a 4"Y harness connected into the receiver, and use extension leads on the sercos to reach through a centre hole in the wing , with just enough hanging out to be able to comfortably connect the servos to the Y harness. Short Y harnesses are readily available from your local hobby shop. As for the dancing servos , the other gentlemen have covered that aspect of your post

RE: servo dancing at switch on
If your receiver is switched on but your transmitter is not, it will pick up any faint signal it recieves, like when you switch on the lights, or your coffee machine. Your servo's will react by twitching. When you turn on your TX it will take some time (milliseconds probably) to stabilize, so the first signal that reaches the servo's may be "wrong", this also causes a short twitch. This is all very normal. If it takes more than, say, a second or so, something is wrong and you should let someone take a look at it.
It is good practice to always turn on your transmitter first, and than the reciever. And to turn off the reciever before the tranmitter, it probably says so in your manual. Jumping servo's can damage your plane if they move further than you had planned and they can even damage themselves. Love, Gary |

Hi
To find out if thits the y lead just disconect it and see if it still happens. Use this principle with the rest of it start with the rx connected to one servo find out what deffinately does work. and try whats left with somone elses gear. Might be either of the crystals. Simon |
