alignment of motor
I removed my motor on a new alpha trainer 40 recently and need to reinstall it. It's an evolution trainer power system .46.
Is there something to line in up with to get it straight with the fuselage. Newb here needing guidance, thanks. |
RE: alignment of motor
John, that's just what I have! I removed that engine and stuck a Magnum .61 4 stroke on mine. I like this engine better but it's not as fast as the .46 was but more reliable to me. If I understand you right....you just took the engine off the engine mount and want to get it lined up right? If that's the case then what I've done is just make sure there is equal measurements on all sides of the engine tabs. I don't remember any dimensions given in the instructions in case you remove the engine. Just make sure it's equally spaced all around. That has always worked for me. Oh yeah....you can move the engine forward so it touches the mounting screws that hold down the straps. Then move it back just a bit so it's spaced right in between the hold down bolts. I still use the same mount and straps to hold down my Magnum. Great plane!

RE: alignment of motor
with those strap type mounts make sure you have the clearence between the spinner and front of the airframe, then like pywackit said center the engine on the rails, then adjust your motor if an offset is needed.

RE: alignment of motor
i'm going to put in a 1.00 size engine 60" p 47, the offset on the firewall seems a little much. How much is too much?
thanks, dave trimmer |
