I downloaded FMS but I never had been able to fly it with My JR XF421EX Radio on my windows XP..
How would it work with JR on windows xp, I hope somebody should know about it. Thanks Mody |
RE: FMS flight sim controller...
Looks like XP is as bad as Windows 2000 for trying to make the thing work!!

RE: FMS flight sim controller...
If you have the connection cable that connects to the parallel port you have to download a driver called ppjoy. This is how I got mine to work.

This is 2007, no more Windows XP. It's time to upgrade to Windows Vista!!!!! All our old problems are solved. ....... Time for new ones!

Jim -- What brand transmitter are you using with the new Windows?
It works fine for you using the old printer port interface? |
RE: FMS flight sim controller...
Use SmartPropo Plus
http://www.smartpropoplus.com/BlueAndGrey/default.asp It inputs the PPM signal through your Mic input.. I've used it.. it works.. making a cable is easy if you can solder. the other option is buying a USB adapter |

Ghost, what type of connection are you using for the computer??
|
RE: FMS flight sim controller...
Well, both the Ikarus and G3.5 work on both Win 2000 and XP, and work just fine and with any of several controllers including my Spektrum and Airtronics TX's. I also have an Airtronics buddy box that works. And, of course, the controller that came with the software.

RE: FMS flight sim controller...
Using a programmable interface (PIC etc.) and piping through the serial port works on windows 2000, XP, ME, NT, and 98 at least... I don't doubt it's ability to interact with the "new" and "improved" windows, personally.
I was most excited by the suggestion that we might be able to interact with the parallel port again -- but SmartPropo and the sound card is good enough for me if it will work on my computer! |
RE: FMS flight sim controller...
You know what I get tired of hear people talk about Windows and not being able to make things work. I downloaded FMS on Mac and it works great. If your tired of Windows try a MAC they just work. Stop feeding the Microsoft beast.

-1 for being a Mac user. :D

Im still using windows XP, as I have old computer, I would be upgrading my computer in future, naturally, then I would go for windows vista. I have installed FMS sim on windows xp,, I just changed the controls in FMS, and calibrated aileron, elevator, throttle and rudder as it is instructed, now Im flying it perfectly alright, and i have downloaded a lot of planes to fly on fms, and Im flying it and enjoying it with my JR's radio. I would probably go for FSone of Hangar 9.

Stick with XP for now. Wait a year or two before jumping to Vista. Professional advice.
