Battery charger
 

Have you ever had the lights go out on your charger that tells when the rx and tx are pluged in. When I plug them into the charger the lights dont come on, so I dont know if there burned out or if the charger died.

If no lights come on you probably have a bad charger. First of all, does it have afuse in it? If so check to see if the fuse is blown. If not try it on different batteries to see if it works on them. Lastly, completely unplug the charger from the wall (power source) and then plug it back in and try again. If you still have nothing then your charger has probably died. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it does happen.

Can you use a Jr charger to charge a futaba battery??

Those little "wall-warts" are occasionally and notoriously short lived, though some will go on for years. Try another wall plug (even if the fuse/breaker is OK). Probably won't matter but couldn't hurt. Something with a large electric motor like a furnace circulating pump or vacuum cleaner in the same circuit can shorten their lives.

If that doesn't work, consider a Accu-Cycle charger/discharger or similar instead of buying another like that one.

You bet you can. Just make sure the wiring is correct. Red to red, and black to black. Batteries are batteries, no matter what brand name is on them.

Thanks my tx is fully charged. I just wanted to charge the battery for a my plane. I crashed it last weekend on a dead stick landing and got it repaired and really wanted to fly it. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

I was looking at it, do you think it is worth it to cut the little on the tab wire that you plug it into the charger. I know it want hurt it because I had to do it to get some of the servo ext. to work. Do you think it is worth it to do it or just leave it alone??

This MAY be the key to your problem. You may have taken your wiring apart or damaged the switch harness. Try removing the battery from the plane and plugging it in directly to the charger. This will bypass all the other stuff and give you a starting point.

But the light for the tx should be on, Right?? The swithc harness is fine I think. It will turn on and off.

It's possible to turn on/off and still be connected wrong or have damaged wiring or a damaged switch. Only sure way to tell is to eliminate it.

As for the TX, it may have a blown fuse in it or if you did try to use a Futaba charger on a JR TX or vice versa there may have been charger/radio damage done.

As far as Charlie saying SOME chargers are short lived, the Futaba charger I currently use has worked fine for 17 years now. And yes, I did see where he said some do last also.

AND I'm not guaranteeing that your charger isn't bad. Just trying to give it as much chance as I can. A voltmeter would help.

If you have a friend with a correct brand charger, try that. You'll know in seconds what is going on.

Or even take your TX to the LHS and try it on a charger from a display model. I'm sure they will let you.

I really wanted to fly the plane tomarrow (if there is good weahter) so I just trimmed of the tab on the switch so the JR charger would charge the battery. I did put he Jr radio on the futaba charger but I dont think it did anything because I have done it before and it would not fit. I think I just kind of layed in there. I hope everything will be alright. All I have on the JR is the alpha that came with it. I got my P-51 pts and Harmon rocket on the other. I think (and hope) that everthing will work. Guess we will find out tomarrow.:eek:

If I think about it I will come back and post if everthing works alright.

P.s the red light came on when I pluged the JR charger on to the batt. so I think the switch is alright.
