This is my first plane , and its my 3rd time i fly it and its so easy for beginner , i didnt even active the anti-crash system , well i cant because thers is lots of snow here , the anti-crash dont work with snow.

Even with kinda strong winds , i can control it , i can land it smootly. ITS SO MUCH FUN!!!!
I have alot of RC truck , car , motorcycle , now , im into PLANE!!!

My next 1 will be the Hangar 9 F4U Corsair .60 ARF Airplane W/Retract HAN2575

your gonna need ALOT of glue im assuming the super cub was a lil electric 3 channel plane that flys about 20 mph ... il pay to watch the corasir fly that slow, sirously dude the coprsair wont last i have glow experince and wouldnt touch one the high wingload means your going to have to keep alot of speed oo and have you though about a deadstick? and i sure hope you use 4 channels cause the good old bank n' yank wont get ya too far..

Start by telling us the manufacturer, exact model and motor type (nitro or electric) of the plane you are flying now.

Then we will be un a better position to help. there are about 100 different Cubs out there but the only one I know of with a "anti-crash" system is nothing little than a toy. That doesn't mean you can't have fun with it or learn from it but it is like comparing a Volkswagon with a Lamborgini.

Ok its the hobbyzone Supercub , its only 3 channel , so , maybe i just need to go with a slow park flyer but with 4 channel now.

If that's the route you want to go you're probably 5 or 6 planes away from being ready for the Corsair you listed above. Your best bet is to start getting into a glow powered trainer to start learning how to operate and fly the planes.

Hey! Watch that. I drive a VW!

And a VW and a Lamborgini probably weigh about 80% the same, so it's even a wider difference between a 20 oz foam Cub and a 160 oz Corsair. A landing that seems good with the Cub would drive the retracts right up through the wing, or merely tear them out, of the Corsair. And slowing way down for that easy Cub landing? Forget it. The Corsair has to come in hot or it stalls and makes a lot of crunching noises as it flies into pieces when it kisses Momma Earth.

Ok , well i wasnt saying that now i can fly a supercub that i can fly pro planes , im a newbie , i dont know anything about them.

And for 2nd plane , i want to stick with electric , maybe brushless.

No way! I've been driving VW since I was Drew Cary.

I sold a Suzuki GS 650 EX because I knew I was going to kill myself. Imagine what I could do with a Diablo? I already pay NY a "Driver Accessment Fee" because I like to wind up my little turbo. And the car has one, too.


Lets see: $28K (cash) for a car that does 145mph on roads only suitable for 70 and $ for goodies.

Or: $260K for a car that does 240 mph on roads only suitable for 70 mph and car payments of about my wife's salary as a teacher. Hmmmmm.

I can trade door# 1 and door #2 to drive a Lamborgini but have to live in it? No thanks. And with Pirelli Winter Carving tires I made it into my driveway Friday night when my neighbor's 4WD Dodge Ram was in the ditch where he slid sideways (tee hee).

I'm not trying to stir up trouble here, but this is exactly what you said. Your first post here said that your next plane would be the Corsair.

If you want to move towards a glow powered plane you really need to start flying with glow. A glow powered engine takes some experience to know how to start, tune, and maintain. The only way to gain that experience is to start using them. You're not going to be able to fly electric and then expect to start flying a glow powered warbird when you think you are ready. There is a learning curve that you must deal with to get to the plane that you want to fly down the road. Ignoring that learning curve is only going to be setting yourself up for a huge disappointment when you find that you're not capable of flying the plane you want, when you need to.

while i agree that a corsair may not be the best next plane, CONGRATULATIONS on getting the hang of your cub. if it was anything like that crud i flew, i'm sure it's a larger feat than most are giving you credit for :-) i have flown the grasshopper J-3 and can i say that thing, while flyable, is just junk. with the standard batteries you would be lucky to get one circuit in before the batteries start calling it quits! anyway, regardless, it is still very different from flying a trainer. i would also recommend getting a nice trainer and assistance before any other step toward warbirds.

i have at least gone through 10 planes with at least another 15 planes. i've flown pretty much all types of planes from trianers to warbirds, to pusherjets and the one plane i have yet to even assemble are my two F-4Us one kyosho kit and one sportsman aviation. i love them too much! while i'm waiting for my skills to get so good that i never have an engine out, i'm cutting my landing skills on a P-40 warhawk. those rotating retracts are the devils.

anyway, great advice here.

charlie, i love the original beetle... hate the new one. i think the new one is such a fraud. i drive a mini cooper s :-) and nice house.

Actually, Questo, if you're really flying the Hobbyzone Super Cub RTF really well and enjoying the sport, an electric warbird might be a good second plane for you to think about.

As was previously said, congratulations on successfully flying your Super Cub! My first plane was a Hobbyzone Aerobird Challenger, and I spent more time beating that poor thing into the ground and repairing it than I ever did flying it. I'm happy to report that glow planes have since provided me with a great deal more flying success.

There are plenty of good electric powered warbirds by Parkzone, E-Flight, GP Electrifly, and others that are appropriate for pilots looking to upgrade from planes like your Super Cub RTF. They still won't prepair you for flying a big scale glow model with a 2HP motor and retractable landing gear, but they will move you along with the skills you'll need and you could have a lot of fun with them.

The Electrifly Corsair listed above is an ARF and will require additional parts and building time. This might be adventageous because, although it will require additional time and money to get airborn, you can put it together with exactly the components you want. Any additional equipment you purchase like a high quality 72Mhz or Spektrum radio system (for example) can be used later on even more advanced planes.

While Parkzone doesn't make a Corsair RTF package yet, they do offer the P-51 Mustang, FW190, and Spitfire. These planes are ready-to-fly, and if run with an optional LiPo battery instead of the included NiMh battery pack, offer very solid performance.

There are a lot of cool options available for you to consider, you have the tough job however as you will eventually have to pick one. Good luck!

Speaking of second planes. I have over 30 flights worth of experience on a Nexstar, with a solo certificate that was signed by an instructor last Summer. Although I had to sell the Nexstar before Christmas, I anticipate an improvement in circumstances that may allow me to get back into the hobby this Spring. If that's the case, should I purchase another trainer such as the Hangar 9 Alpha, or go for a Goldberg tiger 2? Would a Sig Kadet Senior make better sense, substituting for one of the other two I just mentioned? With my current experience on the Nexstar, would it be possible to move up to a Goldberg Decathlon or Great Planes Cessna 182, or would those be considered as third planes? Thanks.

Hey NS I had no idea about your situation. I'm sorry to hear of it as I would be devistated if I could not fly. The planes you mention are more scale and I fell into the trap of believing a decathlon would just be a more aerobatic trainer. That plane had a short life span as I was not ready for it at the time. If you soloed your nexstar and have access to a club and instructor go for a low wing sport like a 4 star/ tiger 2 if you have the money or a World models sky raider mach II if your on a buget. Get the instructor to take you up on the buddy box and I think you will find yourself back in the saddle in no time.

Thanks for your advice, Mr67Stang. The one I am most likely to consider, is the Tiger 2 or perhaps a Tiger 60. I do, of course, have access to instructors at a couple local clubs. One of them would cost me $135.00 for membership, but they have a paved runway and excellent services available. The investment would probably be my best bet. I'll see how things go during the next couple months, let's hope for the better.

NS, i think you could consider a WM Mach II. it's a low wing trainer that floats and floats but with the right power package can still be pylon raced!!! and... it's cheap and at least a billion people can vouch for it.

I haven't ruled out the Mach II, forestroke. That'll be the next choice, if I some money but can't afford the Tiger 2.

Thanks for the info, Questo. Something similar to the GWS may be considered, but I may look for something that uses 4 channels and a single engine, like the Hobbico FlyZone Cessna 182. The big plus with that one, is that it's featured on RealFlight 3.5. Do you have a link to the C-47, for any chance?
