Fuel tank

I want to put foam around my fuel tank to prevent bubbles or foaming. The fuel tank sits in a former and theres no room for the foam. I'm using one of those fuel clunks thats suppose to prevent bubbles or foam.
Its on a hanger 9 xtra easy rtf .
Any suggestions.
Thanks

RE: Fuel tank

If the tank is the same size as the hole in the fuselage former, then it's difficult to get any foam between the former and the tank (obviously as you have stated). Generally, I just don't use any foam at all in this situation. There is much concern expressed about fuel foaming and in my experience have not found fuel foaming to be that much of a problem. So what I am saying is even though I understand your question, I would avoid hacking out the former just to add foam. What problem are you trying to solve? Is your engine running poorly, etc.? If you are seeing bubbles in the fuel line, for example, the problem could be a hole in the tubing. This is a more common problem than foaming.

if the tank is touching the former on the sides or top, then i would cut out a small section and put some foam there. this is to ensure that vibration from the engine doesnt eventually wear a hole in the side or top of the tank. in my first plane (LT-25) i only put foam (a thin sheet b/c of clearance issues) underneath the tank, and had no problems whatsoever.

If you are not having a problem with foaming, don't worry about it.

As they say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Hi!
Agree! If there is no problem... why do anything...?
You say that you use a tank that should prevent foaming...The only tank that automaticly prevents fuel foaming is the Tettra "Bubbleless" tank. No other R/C tank will prevent fuel foaming without you putting foam around it.
