Ro, here is a link to every AMA flying field in NJ. As far as I know there are no non sanctioned fields. You will need to be a member
of the AMA to fly at these and probably a club member also. Most fields/clubs require you to do a solo test to prove you can fly safely.
Look at the ones that say they have pilot intro. at most clubs training is free and they may even have a club trainer you can learn on.

The other way to get started is to find a huge field and a big bag of cash so you can keep buying planes or repairing after a crash.

I told you in another thread about these clubs. If you really want to find out what this is about and don't want to fork over the cash to join a club yet, wait a few more weeks until the weather breaks, Join the AMA on the introductory program and take a ride down to my area (about a 2-1/2 - 3 hr ride and I will let you fly my nitro trainer.

Go to the AMA web site, http://www.modelaircraft.org/ and click on "About AMA" and then "Chartered Clubs". You can many clubs in New Jersey and then go from there.

Clubs do not need to have "intro programs" to train beginners. This is a special program within the AMA with special rules. Read about the rules on the AMA web site. So just because a club does not list "intro program" in the directory, do not pass on checking them out. Look at their web sites or give them a call for details and info.

Where exactly in NJ are you? I'm a member of the Jersey Coast Sport Fliers, a GREAT club. Check the AMA clubs site to find the club closest to you.
