Hey
I have a plane with no electronics and no motor in it, but I do have a traxxas receiver that I was woundering I could use in it. Will there be any bad side effects by using a car receiver in a plane?
I also have a FM hitec hfd-08rd receiver that doesent seem to work properly.Whenever I hook up my jr transmitter to it the servos just twitch back and forth.It say on the receiver to use with hitec or futaba.Any ideas? THANKS

Your Hitec receiver is set up for negative shift 72mhz FM/PCM radio signals, but your JR transmitter uses positive shift signaling and can't talk properly to the Hitec receiver.

The traxxas receiver isn't designed for 72mhz usage, the normal air frequency for standard air radios. As such, it won't work properly with any kind of aircraft radio. If it could, you'd still be violating radio channel safety guidelines that are designed to prevent interference and crashes.

Big Ed is correct.

The bottom line is to get rid of the idea of using your old stuff and go get the proper equipment.

You will have much better successs, more fun and not upset your fellow modellers.

If you cannot afford new gear, talk to the guys at a local club - there is always someone with extras for sale. ;)

In other words if you try to fly your plane with the car reciever you are begging the kid around the corner playing with his car to crash your plane for you. Tell us more about your Hitech reciever and JR transmitter. Someone here might be able to hook you up with a swap either a Futaba transmitter for your JR or a JR receiver for your Hitech. This is not a Swap forum but in the spirit of "Pay it forward" maybe the moderators will allow some discussion on the matter.

Definitely true. The traxxas is on the ground frequency. I can't remember what is is right now but Im thinking 50mhz. As biged said even if it worked its illigal. but it won't work.

Also on the Hitec if it says to use a Hitec or Futaba radio theres a good chance you should do just that. If your receiver is really on 50 MHZ (ham band) and you have a HAM license, it it legal to use on either cars or planes and, I believe all 6 meter transmitters are positive shift, even the Futaba and Hitec. Note: I said legal, not recommended. If you want to go with the HAM bands, stick with the 50MHZ for planes and use 53MHZ for the cars and boats to minimize chances of being shot down with interferance.

ok, well i was wrong on the 50mhz then. But don't use HAM unless you have a license. :D

Okay, since there seems to be some confusion, let me see if I can make things simple.
27MHZ can be used for air and ground models, but I wouldn't recommend using with anything that leaves the ground
27/49MHZ is used on most toy store R/C's like Nikko and Radio Shack products
50/53MHZ can be used for either but requires a HAM LICENSE
72MHZ is AIRCRAFT ONLY
75MHZ is SURFACE ONLY

OH, and Rodney, Futaba is a negative shift system
