RE: another question?
The problem with RC airplanes is that it's easy to spend to little. There are a lot of park flyers and electrics out there in the $50 to $180 price range that aren't good to learn on and can't fly in the wind very well.
You should pony up $219.99 for the Pegasus .40 Super Combo at eHobbies: http://www.ehobbies.com/ttr4556-f12.html This package includes the Pegasus .40 airframe prebuilt and ready for final assembly, the Thunder Tiger GP-42 glow engine with glow plug, prop, and spinner, and a Hitec 4-channel radio system with servos and receiver pre-installed. The Pegasus is a wonderful airframe with a 70" semi-symmetrical wing. It's easy to see in the air and will have good trainer flying characteristics. The semi-symmetrical wing means that, when you're ready, you can fly the Pegasus inverted and learn to fly aerobatics without having to pony up for a "second" airplane quite so soon. You already know how to run glow engines, judging by your user name. Invest in the Pegasus super combo and you'll get years of enjoyable flying out of it. Buy an electric park flyer for $50 to $180 and you'll get a few weeks or months of enjoyment out it before having to go out and buy another one. |
RE: another question?
The Sig Cadet kit is the easiest 3 chanel plane to fly period. It is on the other hand quite a bit of work to build. Kit is less then a $100 and A cheap .40 is all you need. If you can't fly a Sig Cadet with a little training there is no hope. I know guys who could never master a standard trainer and were able to fly a kadet.

RE: another question?
By the time you bought the Sig Kadet kit, the fuel tank, the wheels, the building materials, the covering, plus the engine and radio, you'd have 6 months' work and $350 into building a really nice, basic 3 channel trainer.
The TT Pegasus Super Combo could be ready to fly tomorrow. http://www.rchobby.co.uk/Thunder_Tiger_Pegasus_sml.jpg |
RE: another question?
What needs to be done on the TT Pegasus Super Combo to be 100% ready to fly right now?Is it worh the money?

RE: another question?
To fly the Pegasus .40 super combo, you simply need to attach the wing halves to one another then attach the wing to the airframe, attach the tail assembly and connect the elevator and rudder pushrods to the control horns, and attach the landing gear. You'll also want to charge up the receiver and transmitter batteries with the included AC charger overnight before your first flight.
Once you've got this accomplished, you'll simply need to head to the flying field with a bottle of glow fuel for airplanes (10% nitro with castor oil or a synth/castor blend would be good), a fuel pump system, a glow ignitor, and a chicken stick or electric starter. If you've never flown a glow plane previously, you should work with an experienced glow pilot to help you check out the plane before flight and to fly with you on a "buddy box" system so you can get the hang of the plane. The Pegasus is plenty gentle for primary training, but is also aerobatic enough that you will be able to learn all of the aerobatic manuevers on the Sportsman pattern schedule with it once you're ready to advance past basic flight. The Pegasus .40 super combo is an absolute bargain. It's like buying a top-shelf ARF and radio system on sale, having them throw in a really good engine for free, and then assembling almost all of it for free, too. You are also in luck in that Florida is loaded with RC airplane enthusiasts, and Manatee County is no exception. There are 7 AMA chartered flying clubs within 25 miles of zip code 34206, and several are members of the AMA's Intro pilot program that actively welcomes new pilots for training assistance: SARASOTA SILENT FLYERS 1.21 miles 3378 JACK REINEMEYER 2550 26TH ST W BRADENTON FL 34205-2953 Phone: 941/753-3163 Email: Email Url: www.sarasotasilentflyers.com V No VALKYRIES OF MANATEE INC* 3.26 miles 1360 JOHN ANTHONY 7703 12TH AVE NW BRADENTON FL 34209-1005 Phone: 941-792-3254 Email: Url: www.auav.net/rc/ V Yes MANATEE COUNTY RADIO CNTRLRS 3.43 miles 2710 RAYMOND THOMPSON 3307 5TH DR W PALMETTO FL 34221-6256 Phone: 941.723.9381 Email: Email Url: www.manateerc.ocm V No SARASOTA RC SQUADRON* 4.49 miles 780 LAURA LONG 3312 50TH AVE E BRADENTON FL 34203-3933 Phone: 941/727-5670 Email: Email Url: www.sarasotarc.com V Yes KING FIELD R/C CLUB 16.36 miles 4457 WILLIAM CARTER 6191 51ST ST S SAINT PETERSBURG FL 33715-1615 Phone: 727.867.3236 Email: Email Url: V No TRIPLE CREEK RC* 21.64 miles 4646 JOHN WINCHESTER 225 LAKEWAY LN APOLLO BEACH FL 33572-2693 Phone: 813-641-9324 Email: Email Url: www.triplecreekrc.com V Yes TAMPA BAY LINE FLYERS* 22.15 miles 3499 PAUL MV SEQUIRA 6721 13TH AVE N SAINT PETERSBURG FL 33710-5403 Phone: 727.343.7653 Email: Email Url: tblf.virtualave.net V Yes My advice is find a club that you like, buy the glow trainer package that you like and that the training instructors at your club are comfortable with, and have fun! |
RE: another question?
why 3 channel? really, if your gonna do it do it right, get the 4th channel. learn with ailerons from the start and you dont have to be re-trained.... by the way no matter what plane you get no matter what they say in the advertisment or at the hobby shop. without an instructor you aint gonna have it long. go to your local rc field and ask the guys questions....you'll be amazed how friendly they are.
This is great hobby with great people Just start off right good luck |
RE: another question?
