rubber grommets on servo casing

1 Attachment(s)
I am installing Futaba S3004 Standard servos. I am not to clear on where to place the insulating rubber grommets, on the top or bottom of the servo casing tab? Between the servo casing and the plane structure or between the servo casing and the mounting screw? The instructions show the steel screw sleeve inserted up through the bottom of the screw hole with the sleeve’s flange facing downward. The top of the servo casing has a tab that lines up with a groove in the rubber grommets, but placing the rubber grommets on top of the tab would seem to allow servo casing to wood contact unless the steel screw sleeve is supposed to help isolate the swerve casing. Placing the rubber grommets on the bottom of the servo casing tab would isolate the servo casing from the wood but the mounting screws would have direct contact to the rubber grommets on servo casing.

Thanks,

RE: rubber grommets on servo casing

Please ignore my previous post concerning the servo rubber grommets, the package included four rubber grommets per servo, one to be placed above and below the casing tab.

Thanks,

Hehe, sounds like you're on the right track now, pinnedup. ;)

Hi

The few servos like that i have i replaced the rather odd 2 piece grommets with complete ones used with the futaba 148 type.

you do realize that the gromment gets squeezed in the notch in the tab right?

Yup, pinnedup, you're on the right track now. Install the metal eyelets with the flange to the wood rail. The servo screw has a flange on it to protect the top of the grommet. Tighten the screw until the grommet just starts to compress, then about 1/4 turn more. If it's tightened all the way, there's no vibration protection.
