I used a couple of 2 x 2's attached to the wall and pre-drilled some 1/2" holes in them 6" apart and I cut 1/2" dowel rods in 18-20" lengths and put some pipe insulation on the dowels for cushioning. I can keep 4 planes on the rack and they are out of the way. Here is a pic.

You can get pvc and make a stand, or hang them on the roof.

I use the same basic method waross uses, but I use shelf brackets, the adjustable kind, with plumbing insulation padding over the brackets the advantage for me is I can move them up or down for whatever need presents itsself at the time, smaller space for wing and larger for fuse of course.
then you can pack your planes in tight and store them on the wall. as well as adjust the size as your needs change.

I use a free standing stand made of pvc pipe. My parents would not allow me to hang real shelves on the wall so this is the best I could do. If I could I would do something more like what the guys did above. I still like mine alot though.

LT,
What a waste, you still had at least a couple of feet from the top of your rack to the ceiling!!! Waste, waste, waste!!!! for shame!!! :D:D:D

I am, of course, just kidding. Your storage solution looks great, what a fantastic way to solve a problem.

I use the standards and pipe insulation. Sorry I don't have better pics of it. The pegboard is also great for hanging radios on.
