Smoke systems
 

I have a few more questions. I have decided to go with a SkyBolt Bipe, arf, for this summer and then start a build of a Sig Hog Bipe, kit, this fall for the winter.

So I have also decided I want to add a smoke system also to the SkyBolt. I have read MinnFlyers "Got Smoke" and another thread that was started by Mods-R-Me when he built a kit SkyBolt. (I thought that thread was great) however I am woundering if the infromation from Got Smoke is still up-to-date, or is their a better system or way of doing it now.

The other question is that I want to use a four stroke and I would like to use a O.S.91 with a pump. Will the 91 be good or should I get a bigger engine. Or should I go with a 100 Saito. Any way I go as far as engines it will either be a O.S. or a Saito. I have not bought anything for this build yet, but I am planing on buying the items as soon as I think I know how I want to go.

Nope, Minnflyer's advice is still rock solid on building a smoke system. If you follow his how-to you'll be up and smoking in no time at all!!!

Thanks RCKen. What do you think about which engine I should go with. Like I said before I really like the O.S., but I am willing to go with a Saito as well since everyone here talks so good about them. I do want the engine to strong enough to pull the plane around and be able to get enough heat to get good smoke. That being the reason I am woundering if I should go with a bigger engine, if the bigger one would produce more heat or not.

I own both engines, and if I had to choose I would pick the OS. That's what the plane was designed for, and I prefer OS engines anyway. The one down side is that the OS costs more, but if that's not an issue I would say pick the OS.

Thanks, I am a O.S. man myself, so I mite just as well stay with them. Also I have been searching past threads this evening on smoke systems. I have got a ton of information and most of my questions answered thru them.

I do have to say, that I had planned on just buying a smoke system for around $90.00 to $100.00, depending on which one, but after reading the other threads I am going to do one on my own and just save half the money.

I guess it just go to show, if you have a question it can/will be answered here. Thanks alot. Also if any of you think their is something else I should know or just be aware of, please share.

However I think I am going to do the system that MinnFlyer use and he has stated how to set it up using the windshield wiper motor. I am sure I will haved to ask another question when I get to that part, but time will tell.

Ok i would like to see Minnflyers advice i want to put a smoke system in my Extra 330L gas plane and have been looking for a thread on how this is done but havent found anything except this thread. Any web site that show how smoke systems work would be really Helpful.
