Thrust Angle
 

I have an AT-6 Great Planes that needs new firewall. Questions is since I don't have plans for this ARF what thrust angle for engine should I use. I've heard that I should have some down and some to the right. Is that right from the pilots(imaginary of course) perspective(like in automobiles) or from looking at it from the front. I do know how to adjust once I get her back in the air but would like to get it close since this damn thing is a handful for me already.

You are correct, angled to the right and down from the pilot's perspective. A couple of degrees both ways should do the trick.

Edited to add:

The firewall angle does not have to be precise, the exact engine angle can be adjusted later during engine and mount installation.

Rebuilding

I've become really good at fixing arf's. My method for rebuilding has been to make sure I pick up all the peices. Real careful not getting fuel on peices as I pick up wreckage. I then go home and with some CA try to reconstruct what used to be. I then reinforce with wood and Epoxy to get strength. As little as possible though to save weight. I've torque rolled my AT-6 3 times. Air Speed Air Speed!!!!! Anyway the firewall wasn't straight anymore so I simply added some thin aircraft plywood to front of existing firewall to strengthen and straighten. Worked great. I've got rest of plane straight and it should be ready to fly this weekend. Hope this helps.
